Default Hmm, cruise control?

I was reading and saw that cruise control is/was an option. Then I read a few times that in 2005 they were standard but then someones post says the only option added on his 2005 was cruise control. Is cruise control an option or an upgrade on a new one?

It is an option. You can buy from the manufacturer, Rostra. Do a search. Dealers who want to do the work will charge a handsome sum for install. Some dealers will tell you wher to buy and who will install. If you are a DIY'er, it is doable but most say it is a little tedious.

I think it's only an option in the southeast.

I was offered cruise on my 05 for 500 installed, but opted to do it myself someday.

You can get it here, installed as an option, in SOUTH FLORIDA.
I have it.

I think on some dealer's website it posts what the installed price is for certain accessories added to your car. I think mine is charging $300 installed.

Of my two local dealers, one refused to offer it, citing liability issues . The other dealer gleefully offered it as a $330 option, dealer-installed.

I wanted cruise control. Guess which of the above dealers I bought my car from?

I just got my Scion xB 2 days ago and I got Cruise Control installed for $295. You can order the Rostra Cruise Control or the Toyota Cruise Control on eBay and have it installed for about $150 Labor

Below is the link to the Rostra Cruise Control

This is the xB forum, and Toyota doesn't offer cruise control as standard or optional equipment for the xB. That's why we're discussing our experiences in acquiring (or inquiring about) this accessory.

You are right about the tC...cruise control is standard equipment for that car.

I finally had it installed on my xB for $360. Works great and it really makes drivng on the highway more enjoyable. I called a local dealer to see if they put them on and they referred me to another company the dealer owned that does aftermarket stuff. Scion is really missing the boat by not offering this as standard fare or at least as an option.

Is there any warranty issues with installing this aftermarket cruise control? If it breaks, I assume Scion will not fix it. Ditto if it screws something else up. I suppose that is a slim chance, though.

Default Cruise Control should be an option

I am in agreement that Scion should offer a cruise control. I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 and it has it. I drive over 100 miles daily and i miss it. The dealer did tell me that if the cruise is intalled it would not effect the warranty. The dealer gave me the name of an authorized Rostra installer, and for 250.00 I am going to have it installed.

Cruise Control is a port-installed or dealer-installed option in regions like the Gulf States, because their Toyota Distributor isn't owned by Toyota Motor Sales. So they do things a bit differently. The cruise control option is a Toyota part, but not one offered across the US.
