Default Hot Lava #1303 is in da house!!

Just picked up my RS1 5-speed and it is sweet! Planning on putting some 18" Roh Fury in Black Ice. Once I get those on, I'll post some pictures.

Was wondering if anyone knew anything about the auto armor deal my dealership was offering. Includes:
1. Polymer coating that they warranty for 5 years against any stain (bird poop, tar, tree sap, acid rain) and eliminates waxing for 5 years
2. Under coating that reduces noise
3. Rust proofing sealant on all major joints and crevices includes warranty
4. Interior scotchguarding like substance which they warranty any stains for 5 years.

For $700. They told me it was some nationwide company but that all the work would be done at the dealership. So what do you guys think, is it worth it?

Auto Armor is a total, complete rip-off that is not worth $7.00 let alone $700.00. Use your money on something that adds real value and enjoyment to your RS1

Which Dealer?

Miller Scion in Manassas. Why?

I'll probably use the money on something else, but was almost sold for a while.

I'll be updating the registry soon.

underbody rust proofing is also crap, as all cars sold in this country must be coated. Plus most places aviod salt for teh reason of rust anyway.

Congratulations on your RS1.

Regarding the $700 paint/rust protection etc., it is total BS. It's a way that some unethical dealerships try to get some extra cash from sales. Example: I recently went with my brother-in-law to buy a new Honda Odyssey minivan...the dealership's MSRP was $28k after a $3,000 "paint protection". The cost the dealership paid for the car from the Honda factory was just over $22k. We offered them $23k including all fees, and bought the car. They said they'd go over the car, remove the plastic, fill the gas, and apply the clear "paint protection" while we wait to leave the dealership. The plastic was removed, and they sprayed water on the car and wiped the windows--hence the "clear paint protection". Here in Las Vegas dealerships often call it "desert paint protection". NEVER PAY A FEE LIKE THAT.

They also like to charge extra on extended warranties and the like. They offered us one for $1,600 and I was like "No thanks, I know you pay like $250 for it. What about $1,000?" And he later offered it to us for $1000. We still didn't take it but it shows you how the finance managers get paid.

Documentation fees are also crap. Some dealers charge $99 and some charge $800. They should pay YOU if you fill out the paperwork yourself. The fee usually can't be removed but you can remove it from the price of the vehicle. It's just another way for them to make some extra cash.

Congrats....
I dont think it is worth it either, but if I did get it, that dealership would get real sick and tired of me complaining about water spots and no shine. I would complain about every little thing, just to get my money's worth!
