Default Hot Weather and window problems

I have a 2004 XB, Black, and in the past on very hot days, the rear passenger window would stick up and not roll down. I thought it was due to the fact that the black paint absorbed a lot of heat and was possibly gumming up the rubber seals or something. It always worked the next day after cooling off over night. It would only happen maybe once per summer after a very hot day with being parked in the sun. During this recent heat wave, it has not worked at all, for several days now. It is only the right rear passender window.

I did do a search on this site and most of the window problems were related to the window lock button. It is not that, I check. I did not see anything about heat related problems.

Has anyone had similar problems? If so, what was the cause and the solution. And any guesses would be appreciated.

Thank you all for your kind assistance.

I haven't wanted to work much lately either!! I wonder if the humidity is a problem also. You will play heck trying to an intermittent problem diagnosed. I have never seen a post of anyone else with this problem. There is nothing in the rubber that is sticking is there? Truly a unique problem......

When this problem first reared it head a couple of summers ago, I thought it was just the rubber sticking, however, it is always the same window. I suppose it could be, but one would expect similar issues with other windows on hot, humid days.

The temperature dropped significantly last night, and it is still not working. I have my 60k service coming up, so I will have it looked at.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of switch in the window motor that shuts it off to avoid overheating?

There is no reason for a switch that would deactivate it in hot weather, since it's not a motor that works constantly and runs the risk of overheating. The first thing to check is all the contacts, obviously, but sometimes a switch will not work due to poor grounding which somehow mysteriously develops in hot weather. I had a similar problem with an A/C switch in one of my old cars.

I say it's electrical but for the simple fact the window fits so loose in the tracks.
