Default How do you get sponsors?

Being the poor college student that I am, and with the long list of mods that I want to perform, I was wondering how one goes about getting corporate sponsors for their boxes? I assume that you have to take your xB to a certain number of car shows in a certain time period, correct? Any tips on getting sponsors to help me mod my green box?

Thanks! I searched variations of "sponsor," and there were so many listings of "sponsored by" and such that I gave up.

There is no easy way to get a decent sponsorship. The most straight forward route is to use your own money, blood, sweat and tears to build your car. If you do a good job your will get some magazine and/or web coverage. Then when you are ready to build your next vehicle some companies will come looking for you. Others may be more inclined to provide a sponsorship once they see you have already successfully completed at least one project. Still other companies don't provide any type of up front sponsorship and only provide reimbursement once you get coverage in your vehicle.

The other thing to consider is that some sponsorships aren't all they are cracked up to be. Often times contracts have to be signed and you are obligated to be wherever your sponsor tells you whenever your sponsor tells you with your vehicle. This is hard enough with one sponsor. If you end up with multiple contracts like this you can find yourself in a sticky situation.

Your best bet is to stay in school, save your pennies and upgrade your car as money provides. It may take longer, but you'll have a greater sense of pride, and won't have to answer to anyone else about your car.
