Default How far do you drive with your fuel light on?

I have filled up twice now since getting my box, and each time, I've gone around 20 miles with the light on. When I fill up, it almost fills up 10 gallons... So I suppose I could drive a bit further.. since I still have like almost 2 gallons in there.

As little as possible. I try to not wait that long to fill it back up.

yeah, once that light comes on--it plays a psychological effect on me and makes me WORRY, even though I know there is like approx 2-2.3 gallons left in reserve...

I think I went about 30 miles ONCE with it on (knowing I can go further, but chicken to try it).

I try to fill as soon as I have time. My mileage is around 21 MPG right now, so I can't go 60+ miles after it comes on like some people do. I know there is around 2 gallons left, but with MY mileage, I don't risk running out.

I wonder if anyone has taken a can of gas with them and actually driven till they run out. Maybe they will share with us the actual miles traveled on fumes.

If your mileage is only 21 mpg you got other problems. Either math or mechanical. Get that puppy into the service dept asap.

^^^^ I have and all they can say is 'winter fuel'. I have another thread on this topic and nobody can help me out. It went from 30+ to 21 in one tank and has been ever since Oct. I have taken it in twice, used 6-7 different staions, used injector cleaner on two tanks. All they can say is that if something were 'really' wrong, a check engine light would come on. I don't know.

Never. I always fill up right before a 1/4 tank. Just don't make a habit out of doing that. Alot of people dont realize that fuel actually keeps the fuel pump cool. Also, low gas, u could pick up trash that builds up at the bottom of the tank over time.

Your mostly right. The fuel gets drawn from the bottom of the tank even when it's full.

If it were truely as easy as "winter blended fuel" everyone would be experiencing the same drop in mileage. Sounds like your dealer doesn't want to find the actual cause of your problem. You have a couple options. 1. Take it to a different dealer and explain your problem. 2. Contact Scion Corp. with this problem and tell them this is not normal and it needs to be corrected regardless of what that dealer says.
I've never gotten less than 26 mpg. I PM'd you with a possible solution.

"How far do you drive with your fuel light on?"
...to the nearest gas station.

THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS PERSON WHOM UNDERSTANDS! I was a mechanic for the 5 years prior to my current job and it was hard to tell people that they need to keep it above the 1/4 mark...without telling them they are stupid...after i just put in their 2nd pump in 2 years.

30 miles. tested inadvertently and repeatedly. There may be two gallons of reserve, but you won't get to it all.

I've got 35 miles with the light on, but got scared when the needle went below the "E" line Filled it back up was 11 gallons

BTW, I did a test with the milage on a full Tank. I notice I got an average of 30 to 32 miles on the gallon, but if I just filled it on a half tank, I squeezed about 35 to 37 miles to a gallon?

then you should also be able to tell everyone that there is a filter before the pick up on the fuel pump.
and that the fuel pump is suspended from the top and you will never get all the fuel out of the tank...

Its less of a "filter" and more of a sack that is designed to allow fuel to pass but not water.
