Default I cant get out of my xB!!!

So has anyone else had problems with the driver and passenger locks not going full up and then getting stuck. Had to get out and let my girlfriend out of the passenger side by, using the key and locking/unlocking the door for like 30sec. Then I got home and mine did the same thing, rolled down my window and used the key, took like 1min of messing with it! I dont wana be trapped in my xB if there is a run away Camry comming toward me! Had the problem a couple times in the past but two times this morning is crazy! Any info would help, thx.

u might wanna check if ur covered under warranty, but ur door lock actuator is giving up, i think ours is a cable type so its not a cheap fix, u can goto the junkyard or buy it from trdsparks or something...my g/f's SUV did this

I've had some similar trouble, too. The locks won't come all the way up, and you can't pull them up by hand. The key seems to do it. Once I rolled down the driver's window and opened the door from the outside.

I've dismissed it in the past to opening the door quickly while it is still in the process of unlocking, which seemed likely to hang the mechanism up.

I've got an extended warranty. Maybe I'll get it checked out.

cheers,

MD

My passenger lock sometimes gets stuck when trying to use electric unlock or by pulling up on the lock itself. the only way to fix it is by pushing down on the lock and then repulling it up. most of the time, the electric lock works

In fact, the back drivers side door lock never works when you use the electric button. it is strictly manual. this is super annoying for myself

Seems like a dangerous and common problem.

they do, except for the back driver side. it is because the motor somehow broke and im too lazy to fix it.

This, from the prior thread, seems to be my situation:

"On mine, when I hit the door unlock button on the drivers door control panel at the exact same time as she is pulling the pass. door handle, it puts the pass door lock like into some sort of intermittent mode. Where it is kind of stuck between locked and unlocked, and nothing you do will get it to unlock. The key from the outside doesn't even work."

The last time it happened, I got back in the car and started it and that seemed to resolve the problem.

cheers,

MD

I wrote that, and thanks for the reply.

Now it has me thinking.

You started it and it cleared up the lock problem?

Maybe it has something to do with the factory alarm or the keyless entery system. I noticed when you lock it with the key fob, the inside lock buttons on the doors do not work, and when you pull up on a door lock, I think they go right back down.

Maybe starting it takes it out of some sort of "anti-theft" mode. I'm going to try it myself.

I purchased 2 universal actuators and I hope to install them to solve my problem.

I hope they fit and work.

There should be a recall because this is friggin dangerous.

My only guess, other than the actuators, is that someone was in the doors and putz'd with the linkage.

Had the same problems with my XB after it was painted. Had to take the linkage out and straighten it to fix the problem.
