Default I hate Trucks!

A freaking idiotic truck loaded with metal craps on its bed f*cking lost its junk on the freeway...and mother of F*ck ...a pipe flew at my xB and hit my rooftop...

i heard a loud thump...i expected the worst... and i'm crying now.

my top is now has a 3" long gouge that is deep enough to see the metal sheet ...and few inchese behind that ..there's a freaking deep scratch about 5 " long...

I am so ____ed off! I hate fu*king Trucks especially with those open bed...i wasn't even behind it....it just flew from few lanes across and bounced off the freeway and hit my xB.

I have to see the dealer now...hopefully they have some matching touchup paint that i can work with.. FU*K this shiet.

argh~

thx all for being so understanding...

no..i didn't get a plate number cuz i couldn't see one on the truck...

secondly...the truck was way ahead of me... and i pulled over at the next exit to examine my damage... i should have followed that bastard, but i think he would have denied all of it. And of course, i would have to get the CHP involved then... and i was already running late for work.

now i regret i didn't get the CHP involved..not that they would have done anything.

man...this reaks..and it's the holiday weekend

Starting late 90's I've been noticing more and more of those massive construction trucks on the road. The prblem is that by CA law, they should secure all the items and debris they carry. But, as you know, they don't. As soon as I spot one of those trucks on the road, I move out of that lane. Doing this prevented me from getting more scratches on the front hood of my car.

My previous car (WRX) was full of scratches by it's first month mostly from being behind these trucks!!!

hey BlueBox

sorry to hear about your mishap

but, i do not think touch up paint is going to do it for that kind of gash.....

get the dealer to give you an estimate in their body shop and then you can decide if you want to eat it and pay for it yourself or go thru your insurance company.....

since it was obviously not your fault, the insurance may be the way to go....

good luck!

Did you happen to follow the truck and get the information from them? I did that once when I had my WRX. Only difference was that the debris wasn't from the truck. The truck kicked a loose bumper on the road to my car on 110 freeway.... I followed him and pulled him over. I talked to his boss and their company's insurance company. But, they couldn't do anything because it wasn't from their truck... So I ended up having scratches on the left side of my A-pillar and the left side mirror.

I am so sorry to hear BlueBox, I hope everything turns out ok. And I think you should have followed the truck and pull it over. Every truck is liable for anything that falls out of the back: Thats called littering!

yeah..it's hard to swallow right now...

the only thing is.... i can't afford downtime on my xB...cuz my 4Runner will be sold this weekend...and i will be down to 1 car.

my insurance deductible is $250...but i doubt it should come out more than that.

i'm gonna try to fix it or atleast make it less obvious ... man this reaks...cuz i'm entering the POMONA Import showoff too in 2 weeks.

well...time will tell...

haha...i wish i could. my 4runner is a 2002 model...with lots of little toys...

i'm selling it for $22,000 ...but due to my auto loan and stuff...i'll make only $2000 after payoff. i have to buy a new laptop with that money..argh...so many things to buy..so little money.

I'll miss my 4Runner... it was an awesome ride and pretty powerful uphill and through mountainous terrains... but too bad it ate so much gas...i get like 15 or 16 MPG on the 4RUnner...and the tanks is almost 20 gallons.

i'll have to hitch rides with my buddies now for snowboarding..haha.

i can now just focus on my xB for awhile...well..hopefully until next year... i have my eyes set on the new BMW 3 Series coupe... it's gonna be awesome..but of course i'll keep my xB for commute and enjoyment.

damn..i'll have my hands full this holiday weekend working on my car...

man that sucks but get this. when my wife and i were still dating we went down to rosarito beach to see her mom. After crossing the border we were moving thru downtown san diego on whatever freeway and the car in front of us kicked up a bar a big metal bar like 4 feet long and bent with a sharp tip at one end and a bolt at the other end. well anyways we were in a focus(not mine). The way it moved thru the air, and since it was bent i thought it was a strip of semi trend come loose and flying at me. The car infront of me got on the brakes hard though, because they knew what they just launched at me.

The bar bounced off the hood and the bolt end came thru the windshield and hit my wife (then fiance) on the jaw and arm. luckily her head was down, picking out the next cd, otherwise it would have hit her throat directly and been a wayyy worse scenario. then after hitting my wife it went into the backseat and my niece caught it before it smashed into her. at the moment i was still thinking it was a tire tread and in my head im like "how the heck did that break the windshield!" so i was just ____ed and i started trying to catch up to the car infront of me to atleast get a license plate because they booked when they saw what happened.

Then i noticed the huge amount of blood coming out of my wife's face so i pulled over and a hellish day ensued with her going to the hospital me dealing with the car/ family/insurance. Shes got a little scar under her lip now but otherwise no big whoop a year and a half later. If anything i took it way worse at the time feeling very guilty and replaying in my head what i could have done differently. i still get a little jump when anything, even paper, flys up from the car infront of me.

so bluebox i feel your pain take heart in that it could always be worse especially when someone you love is hurt.

well... the good news is the damage is repairable. I dabbed some touch up paint for the scratch lines ...but the bigger gouge is abit of a pain...

i don't want to spend so much money redoing the top of my car...and it's gonna be painstaking process ...

for now...i think my buddy and i will try some cheap repair method of covering up the mess... although it may not turn out perfect...i think i can cosmetically cover the gray metal .

And yes, i'm thankful that the pipe hit my rooftop than coming through the windshield... i though it was gonna come through and my instinct told me to floor the pedal in order to avoid such occurrence...

i'm lucky i walked away without blood shed...but i'm still angry that it did damage to my beloved xB.

ne ways...i'll PM you if i need bodywork...for now..i gotta save up money for christmas...man..i hate holidays...so much money to be spent.

it seems like no matter who you try to avoid being behind on the road, something can always happen.....

i mean, i am on the freeway and this Tbird changes lanes in front of me and sure enough something hits my xB! thankfully it just bounced off the glass, but it could have easily damaged something....

i have found the easiest thing to do is when someone gets in front of me, i just pull over for a bit, then when traffic clears take off again
