I know I'll prolly get flamed but...
I was originally going with silver, but when I saw the hot lava, it just clicked. I never thought I would, but I got it. I personally like the color... However, any car that's orange is bound to attract all sorts of opinions. It's an acquired taste :p
Out of all the people I know I would say 50/50 are for/against the color. You are certainly not alone.

for me the other colors were to dark (blue, red, blk, camo) and silver, white were to light.
so it came down to the lava, but hell it could have been green or yellow or even pink and i would have bought it.

The RS Idea is cool, but I can't stand that orange.
 Don't flame, I'm not knocking it, just stating I don't like it & want to know if I'm the only one

the lava is a cool color. it is what sold me on the xb. i felt the colors they offered were to bland for something so unique. people talk ____ everyday about the color sometimes good most times bad. do i care? no. i was gonna get the camo but decided on the orange only b/c camo seemed so plan.
The only reason I got the HL was because I had to wait for an xb either way, the dealership didn't have any 5spds in so I was waiting. I figured it might as well be for the HL since it would be my only chance to get one. I would really like a red one. BCP was next and then BSP, I think TCM is too common and donesn't look that great. Reminded me of my stealth tho just newer paint.
Honestly, I was really hyped waiting for my Hot Lava for a month. I looked at the magazine ad everyday until it finally came. When I saw it that night at the dealership I thought to myself...that's it???
I waited for a month for this?
I almost cancelled the order. The next morning I went to pick it up and it was a totally different hue. Now that's the car I saw in the ad!!! :D So as long as the sun is out the paint is brilliant.
As long as I can make the color WORK, it's all good. :D
I'm getting the HotLava for it's VALUE.
Pricing a normal xB with those options would cost almost a grand more, plus, it's NUMBERED... helping out the resale value.
I'm a little bummed about the fact that it's not really the ORANGEST car on the streets as advertised.. I've seen pontiacs on the streets just as orange..
The interior was a let down too, but problem solved with two-tone Wet Okoles'
