Default I wish Scion would just release the info I am ready to Buy!

I am very close to buying a car... and from what I have seen it will not be a scion. It will be a honda civic LX....

The xB is so close, but I just want a bit more hp in the car for a bit more refined ride at high speeds .... everything else is great. Yet it also is so disappointing that they have not released more information about the new models. I highly doubt I will still be in the market for a car by the time it comes around that they get to releasing info.

It is just too bad, Since with the information... if it met my needs, I would wait for the car... but I am not going to wait juts to get the information... I would wait for a car... but not specs.

This idea of holding back info just ticks me off at this point.

Uhh... since when should a car manufactuer bow to any specific persons needs?

I'm sure we're all waiting for what the new cars will look like, but that doesn't give you the right to badmouth Scion for not releasing and info on the cars.

In fact the press release about the xA and xB being discontinued only came out a few weeks ago.

You could wait for the xB RS 4.0 that should be coming out in a while, not sure of the exact date, but I'm sure someone around here does.

He wasn't really badmouthing scion. He was just saying(in a roundabout way) that he wished they released the details of the cars very early. The new models aren't coming out until Spring of next year. We just started fall 2 days ago so it's going to be a wait.

I am not going to bad mouth scion since their cars are # 3 and # 4 on my list of best impressions... but seriously...

Step down to a honda... that is just sillyness. The civic right now, with a close second of the mazda 3, is the best car on the market IMHO.

Now, don't get me wrong, the xB and tC are 3 and 4 and good contenders, but the tC's handling and mpg are just not up to the honda... nor is the sportyness near the mazda 3.

Yet of course the xB has something completely different than the others... a serious man car appeal.. and it alone would get me to buy it if it had the 1.8 engine.

Now from what I had heard the cars were to be ready to be put out in April of 07... as an early release 08... so releasing the information much less than a year in advance on what the cars will be could not kill sales so much that they would be harmed this late in 06.

well a honda is a huge step down , and the 06 newer ones are hideous , and like all hondas past and present WILL get stolen at least once in it's lifetime.

mazda 3 is a good car i used to want one , but their car's aren't made as well as honda or toyota.

oh and the 08 xB replacement will have the 2.4 it will be larger it will be 85% t2b . imo ugly , it will get 31 mpg AT BEST .

I think if the xB is everything you say it is... then its sales will go up by announcing its new model, because people will flock to get a decent car before it become rubbish in the next edition.

I have no idea why they would not just go with the corolla engine... it is plenty powerful... better than the 1.5, quieter at speed, and gets great mpg.

The 2.4 would be a huge mistake imho, and longer would definately not mean better.

scion doesnt need to do anything for sales . they sell very well just about everywhere! tis why I want to be a scion sales rep , all they do is sit back while the cars sell themselves.

the xa's replacement gets the 1.8

Sounds like they want to make the xB a truck... and not a car.

To be quite honest... more size is the LAST thing the xB needs. More hp or a 6th gear, a couple dome lights, a standard armrest, and maybe a tilt/teloscopic steering column.

Done.

Honda a step down?

I've owned Hondas and Toyotas for 15+ years. They are both high quality brands. Both are suited to different tastes.

I don't know what comes standard with the honda or the mazda that you're looking at, but I'm wondering how the prices of those two compare to the xB and tc.

At the pretty affordable price I paid for my xB with all the standard features, I think it's pretty good. At the selling price of around 15k I wasn't expecting a powerful motor or a smooth and quiet ride. I know like most other cars, civics come in different models like dx, lx, hx stuff like that depending on how many "perks" you want, but they come with a price too.

Would I like a more gentle ride in my box on wheels? Yes, but I can choose to install better shocks and probably for less than it would cost if the car already came out of the factory like that. And if someone is buying a car for all the accessories that are available to make it more personalized, then no matter what car they're getting, they are probably going to upgrade/remove a lot of the stock parts anyway.

Right there. Your mind is made up. Just get the other car then. There's absolutely nothing we can do about Scion's release of information. We, mostly, have our Scions already.

I will say this, though. For 15 large you're not going to get a much more refined ride than the xB.

You are right, my mind is made up on the 06 xB... but I wish I had the option of seeing the 08 to actually be able to compare and see if I should be willing to wait.

The civic lx is a great ride... and with all standard features only around 16.7k.. so not a huge difference in price. But an upgraded xB would make it a whole different ball game.

dome lights are cheap and easy diy's , they DO have a factory (not standard tho) armrest , and they DO have TILT steering column. More HP is an easy/ relatively inexpensive fix , and the 6th gear? eh unless you need the highway mpg don't bother. if you want a relatively easy mpg fix get a 5 speed trans out of the yaris or the echo. crappy accelleration but about 3 mpg better results.

If you want an xB, you better buy one before they are all gone. I talked to my salesman when I went in for my first free oil change and he said that they are stocking up on xA's & xB's because when they stop production, they will sell out and that by February and March all you will be able to buy is a tC and then the new models will come out in April. (Just quoting what my salesman told me)
