Default I'm looking for a different exhaust....

I can't take it anymore. I've had the Strup axle-back on my xB for the past 2 years now and the drone is killing me and especially my backseat passengers.

Can anyone let me know of an exhaust system with a very low tone? I know this thing is only a 4 cylinder but is there one out there that gives it the powerful muscular sound?

short answer: no.

what i'd suggest is get a silencer or go with a quieter exhaust like the tanabe medalion.

i have the greddy ti-c, and it has a removable silencer. with it off, it's mean. with it on, it's quite tame.

i'd imagine you'd want a resonator actually ... the wider piping might just get you some nasty sounding rasp ?

You could always just use the factory exhaust with a aftermarket tip. Not like aftermarket exhausts really show crazy HP numbers.

The GReddy exhaust has a low rumble, and no highway drone. I have heard it and it sounds nice and is what you are looking for. Also I believe the tanabe medalion exhaust is also very low, no drone.

if those dont work, stock is your best bet

I went back to stock a little while ago and it's awesome. With the header it actually has some nice tone.

I know it might not be "awesome" or "jdm" or whatever but I like the sound of the TRD axleback. The only problem is the rattle from the oem exhaust gasket not fitting right but that minor thing can be fixed...

i had the trd originally on my box when i bought it used. it was nice to be a bit diff from stock and definitely not loud. but then, i needed something more aggressive, so that's why i now have the ti-c. but yes, trd might be what you're looking for.

^^^What do you mean by "something more aggresive."? Like annoyingly loud cause you aren't gonna get any faster with an axleback!

yeah, the trd was a bit too ... "weak" for me in terms of depth of sound. the ti-c is definitely a deeper tone that satisfies what i am looking for in an exhaust sound. and of course, the axlebacks on the box don't do anything for performance.

to each his/her own.

I had the DC sport header with the TRD axle back, and it sounded good. I ditched the TRD for the Borla dual cat back, and that was way too loud.

As stated above, the TRD is just enough to be different, but not annoyingly loud.
It does have a nice low rumble without being buzzy.

just wondering but how is the TRD not JDM???
TRD being toyata racing development.,...
isn't the TRD name itself JDM??

just wondering why you would say TRD is not JDM??

I've had tons on past cars. And for the x b the plan is to fab up an es muffler from jhpusa.com like I did on my ep3 civic

Great sounding muffler and check YouTube for soundclips
