Default Just drove an xB - notes...

• The visors absolutely suck. The mirror cover is a hindrance, and the designer who thought of it needs to be shot. The actual size of the mirror is fine, if not on the large end of the spectrum.

• I think I want an automatic. The xB is a cruisin' car, and even with a supercharger or turbocharger, it's not going anywhere fast. Let's face it. The xB I drove was an auto.

• Holy god there's lots of space in the back. I sat in an xB at Nopi Nats, but I don't remember it being so huge.

• The gauge cluster needs to be moved about 6-7" to the left, straight above the steering column. But I can do that, so it's no biggie.

• The hatch door is massive. I felt like I was lifting a 4x8 sheet of plywood.

• My salesman said there will be a list of 40 more options coming out soon. Anyone know what's on this list?

this is my DIY for the missing front passenger vanity mirror: go to CVS/Walgreens and buy a small compact mirror. i know ladies that will take a ride in the front will get ____ed at me. so i'll tell em to open the glove box, and take the compact out!

that rearview mirror though is small. at least to me. when i looked at the back of the car via the mirror, everything behind looks small. made me feel like I was driving a big school bus (pun intended).

Yes Visors are wierd. They dont really suck, they're just HUGE.

Rear passenger room is cool. Cargo room with people in the back SUCKS. but other than that its dope..

I stuck with a 5 spd, just because... I don't know why.. Maybe cause exhaust sounds retarded in autos...

IMHO, exhaust sounds retarded on all econoboxes. Get a real performance car before you get an exhaust that tries to imitate one. If anything, you'll sound like you have a bunch of bees locked up in a tin can as you drive - you'll never be able to replicate the the sound of a performance car, so why even try?

My car is loud as ____, and it's a very very nice sound. No warbling, whining, crackling, etc. I've had muscle car folks (the new era of them) ask about it. It's a Flowmaster 40-Series Non-Delta. I want to bolt it up to the xB too!

Very good point that loud exhausts sound like ___ on an automatic.

Let's not turn this into a # of cylinder thing. I have heard some NICE sounding exhausts on 4 bangers. and some NASTY sounds coming out of 8s. and vise versa..

Ok, this sounds better "you'll never be able to replicate the the sound of a performance car, so why even try?"

Honestly, I'v never heard an exhaust that sounded good on an econobox, and I hear them everyday.

Not all performance cars have 6 or 8 cylinders also. Now what should've been said is the sound of muscle cars. That, can never be replicated.

You are right Kwic, right now the problem I am dealing with is trying to find an acceptable sound when I get my box, my Stang is runnin straight pipes, no cats into 2 chamber flows, dumped... it is loud and awesome, I know I can't do that to my box, but I want low exhaust tones, not high/rice/coffee can tones.... this is my dilema...

Yea I know what ya mean doc. I'll probably end up getting a nice custom job with a normal looking high flow muffler and nice looking tip. I'm probably going to use an oblong tip to sorta match the squarness of the box. Big round muffler and big round tip just looks outa place on a square car.

I think the visors totally suck too. Maybe it would have cost a few dollars more, but I've been in cars where there is a part you can pull out of the visor to make it longer. We have BIG ___ windows, and they dont seem to block the sun real well. I'm prolly gonna have to buy some of those ugly ___ suction-y things u stick on your window that block out the sun.

besides the visors being kind of ___ does anyone think that switch to turn the air from circulating to non-circulating is kind of unnecessary too? i mean why not just make it a button like other cars have? i dont know it just seems to be out of place or like they couldnt think of anything else to put there. i dont know just something i always wondered

Yeah, I noticed that also. It adds a very "pre-Y2k corolla appeal" to it.

And HOLLYWOODSOUNDS (aka CAPSLOCK), I'm 6'4" and 240lbs. I don't need to work out any more than I do. I didn't say it was heavy, just that it's flat and huge.

Let me solve your dilemma for you

To get rid of the bumblebee/rice/coffee can rasp, and tone,
you need a bigger muffler with more internal area to it, something with a 4"x9" oval shape to it. I would suggest a magnaflow 3 chamber performance muffler.
The 3 chambers will get rid of the resonance that you're not wanting.
Those round small muffler don't have enough internal area and/or packing to muffler out the high pitched buzz made by a 4 cylinder engine.

I worked at a muffler shop for over 3 years, and can tell you how to tune pretty much any exhaust to the sound that you want...

If you need more help, PM me, I'd be glad to help
