Key Fob Issues?
Anyone have issues with their power door lock key fobs? I had a problem with my key fobs working late at night or early in the morning when my car has a decent amount of moisture on it.
I can be standing right next to my car and all the doors are closed properly and the fob won't work. When the car dries off a bit either through driving or when the sun comes out the key fobs work fine.
Anyone has similar issues?

I only have that sort of problem when I am parked in a bank lot or near the airport terminal....It must be receiving interference from something....could be the antenna location and which angle you are pointing at? Sorry I can't be of more help..
Sorry for the delayed reply .... grrr job. Anyway, my problems with the key fob are usually late at night or early int he morning. I try it from many different angles far away and even right up near it and it won't work. I'm fairly certain it's when my car has lots of dew on it. I took it through a car wash, touch free, and it worked fine after the car wash. I'll try again early in the morning and late tonight to make certain it's not me, and that the doors are closed properly.
You should have recieved two key fobs. Try the other one first. If the problem persists, look around for other possibilities, like the cold weather idea. Maybe electrical wires around the area or something of the sort. If all else fails the dealer is going to be the one to help. Or how about an aftermarket alarm like the viper?
Now that you mentioned about the alarm, Ghost, I haven't had any issues with the remote since I added my alarm/remote start and using their remote....interesting. I'm sure Scion uses a whimpy factory entry kit to save money...
There might be a problem with the wiring also. Even new cars can have things rubb against others causing problems after time. Any luck Dark?
xBster, I'm glad that your problem was sorted out. lol

Hell, I say everyone get a remote start alarm key fob thingy. I always wondered why Scion never had that as an option, along with push button start. I'll get flamed for saying that but hey tdealers charge a whole bunch more for some of the accessories. lol
I have this issue with mine, my new motto is, if theres ice on my car or its cold, I climb in through the passenger's side, the selenoid is bad, that or the motor, I've got an aftermarket alarm(did that after the issue started) still won't unlock, oh and 90% of the time the key won't unlock and I've nearly broken the door panel pulling on that stupid plastic lift rod
I'm bringing my XB into the dealership first thing Monday morning to check the remotes again. I tried both fobs, from different distances and angles and they still don't work. I notice the problem is only when it's late at night or early in the morning when the car has dew on it .
I've got this same issue, the dealer replaced the Scion alarm, but let me keep the key fobs when I took it in at 34K miles.
Like the_box and DarkMercury, the alarm howls in the early morning or evening when I press "unlock" or "lock" for that matter. It sucks in an apartment complex. I feel bad for the folks above my carport
Actually, I'm wondering if the key fobs could use a bit of hot glue to keep the moisture out of them now?

Yeah. Sounds like a bad battery.
Also, cleaning the internal button contacts, while replacing the battery, may improve keyfob transmission. It may have rubber contacts inside that are glazed. Use denatured alcohol sparingly if they are rubber contacts.
