I read my manual and it says the airbag warning light is on the dash and is an icon of a guy with an inflated air bag infront of him.

On my 2006 XB the light that says "airbag" is always lit up. This light is not on the dash but just below the storage box below the stereo. When the passenger gets in the "ON" light comes on next to the airbag light.

I was getting a dent removed at the body shop and the body shop guy told me that the airbag light should not be on. It's been on since i got the car? Is this really abnormal?

Should there be nothing lit up when I am driving the car? Please someone let me know what is normal. The manual only talks about the warning light on the dash.

Sounds like you read page 39. Now read pages 40 through 51.

 

It's normal... the new boxes have the 'smart' airbags. The airbag will shut off when nobody is in the passenger seat.

So that's normal. The warning light is indeed on the dash. It looks like a stick figure sitting down with a circle near their head.

why dont they just put it by the air conditioning *****? wtf? in the 06 it takes up one of my switch slots!
