Default Looking to buy an 07 box want some pointers

Howdy,

I figured since im looking at buying an xb I would tap into some resources and see if you guys and gals can make some recomendations for me about buying one. Any issues with tranny and drive trane and or engine? things of that nature would be nice to know. Im leaning towards a thundercloud metallic xb w/ the manual trans, unless when i testdrive the auto one this weekend i like it better.

If i do end up getting this ride i will most likely use it for my slightly modified daily when my bagged ram is under the knife. it will most likely get some 18s or mabey 20s if i decide i can fit some decent rubber on em and still be able to turn. I will also most likely use the extra resonant engineering re 8's i have and make some glassed and color matched boxes for the rear. the future would also yeild a two tone color matched katzkin interior and possibly a sun roof of some sort. mabey a full length ragtop.

Well if you are looking for an 07 box, you're SOL. They stop production in December. There will a replacement(or redesign) that should be announced in December.

As far as auto vs. manual. If you do a lot of highway driving, the Manual will be loud. It cruises at higher rpms than the A/T, but it'll have a bit better pick up. Then again, 103hp isn't going to give you all that much anyway.

Other than that I got nothing. Have fun with it.

thats good info, the kid at the dealership didn't really know what was up but im interested to see what will be out for 07 because im pretty fond of the 06 style. on the highways i typically drive at about 70-75 and i do about 50-55 around town. Does anyone have any spy pics etc.. for whats coming out for 07? this may push up my purchase by a few weeks.

There are some pics of a projected look in the 2008 rumors section of this forum. Some people on here have seen the new models, but can't say anything due to tightlip policies and such. All the info that has been basically confirmed by people is it'll have a bigger engine, influenced somewhat by the t2b concept, and bigger in size a bit as well(I think it was longer).

December 14 or so is when the new models are most likely going to be released, it'll be at the VIP party the night before HIN. After that, it'll be out to the public.

You will have some boxes to choose from before they are all gone anyway. Of course come December, anything that is at port, or on its way, will be all that is left.

I agree, even a used 06 box with low miles. I bought my box brand new with 1 mile on it and paid about $17, 500 (I live in NYC - I got no options, but over a thousand bucks went to taxes alone...)

For like $12k-15k, you can get a used low mile box and save the extra $ for mods. I have never seen a *good enough* reason to buy the latest and greatest. These boxes are all mostly the same - difference being color and like the Release series options...

Whatever you decide to do, get a box. ;] These things are reliable as hell. There is a dude on this site with over 90k miles on his box. I'm up to 9k and I thought I drove a lot! hahaha!
