Good question. Without changing the seats my guess is you'd have to chop a piece out of the mounting brackets. A welding shop could do it and I'd estimate it costing about $100 for both seats. Thats my guess though...

But WHY???? The higher seating position is part of why I LOVE the xB. It's not like sitting on the floor and then having to climb out of a hole like most other vehicles.

Least thats why I'd do it.

They want to lower the seats not raise them. That's what I got out of it.

But if you lower the seats, people like us (long legged folks), won't be bashing our knees into the dash while trying to reach for the friggin' steering wheel.

Had Toyota put a telescoping steering wheel in the Box, all would be good.

Lowering the seats will make matters worse not better. It will cause your knees to have to bend even more. Try doing what I did. Get longer front seat bolts and add spacers under the front brackets. Made a huge improvement for my comfort. I'm 6'3.5" 240 lbs.

PS the steering wheel could be an inch or 2 closer tho. I will be adding an aftermarket wheel to take care of that problem.

That I understood - I'm just saying, I've sat and driven an xB with aftermarket bucket seats. All around a much more comfortable option.

It doesn't bug me enough to want to lose my OEM airbag or even do the washer trick. Heck, I just had the OEM leather wheel installed in my car last week.

You should try raising the front with spacers or just lowering the back vertical supports to tilt the seat base. I find the seat too flat and if I recline even a little I start to slide forward on the seat. I thought of putting a threaded adjuster on the two rear vertical pipes on the seat to be able to crank it up and down a little.

Would'nt lowerin the set, your driving position would be difficult. See more dash than the road?

I'm doing the 11 inch diameter and 5.5 inch deep steering wheel to bring it closer to me. Kinda old school silver glitter wheel from Moon Eyes.

Tilts the front edge of the seat upward enough so that it actually supports the back of your thigh. Added a whole new level of comfort for my xB seats.

take one of the bolts with you to match the threads. I used half inch spacers and got half inch longer bolts.

It puts the seat in a sweet spot for some reason. Couldn't believe how well it worked.
