Default Machined Aluminum Halos for first gen Sonar headlights

So, I picked up a set of thrashed sonars for cheap, knowing that I was gonna bake em and fix em up anyway. Once I cracked the case and started playing with it all, I lit the halos off a bench unit. I was unimpressed. Even after I replaced the tiny little LEDs with some 5mm monsters, I still didn't like the glowing plastic look. So I drew these up, and we started machining them:

The large one has 16 LEDs, and the smaller one has 12. I'm excited to finish them and see what they really look like.

My question to you all, is would anyone be interested in a set of their own? I don't know how much time will go into wiring them yet, but it should be simple. Once I have a set completed, I'll know more about pricing. Obviously if enough people are interested to do a group buy, I can re-direct the shop and get these done faster and therefore cheaper.

I don't have these headlights, but what you're doing looks pretty cool. Im sure as you get these finished more interest will show.

On a side note, you machined these yourself? Would it be possible to machine larger rings? Like say 12-14" in diameter?

We can machine these rings to any size and spec, I wanna make one that retrofits for the stock tc headlights next, just need to find a loaner set of stock heads to bake apart.

I think the max on our lathe is 12", ill check tomorrow while I'm out there. I also want to make a trim ring for my 10" sub, but that's for later...

My company does metal fabrication of all sorts, and I'm playing with certain ideas like this for the auto market. Maybe not so much production as one offs, but it all depends on interest!

This is the reason I ask:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220776

I like they way those kits look, but the comapny that sells them hasn't responded to any of my requests. I believe they've gone out of buisness. The LEDs are easy to get, it's the metal ring that I'd have a hard time finding/making. I haven't measured the size I would need, I haven't had time to pull a wheel off. I think if you could find a way to make those at an affordable price, you could make some money.

The max our lathe can reach is 11", I farm anything larger out to a couple of local shops based on price. If you want to send me the most specific measurments you can make, I can get something drawn up and priced out.

I'll see what I can dig up.

Edit:

They'd have to be about 13-13.5" in diameter and .5" wide.

Thanks! Here's a couple installed and lit shots. There is another set just like this for sale, your choice of led color, but it has a smooth face without the thin groove.

I'm trying to get into an old pair of sonars as my stockers are busted up, proving to be very difficult. If someone wanted a set for the stock rears though, that's no problem!
