Major Problems?
Now maybe this has been posted before but I couldn't possibly click on 200 different bulletins to find out every problem with the xB. But is there anyone out there that had Major work done with their xB's other than body work? I mean it's a Toyota which is built "Japanese Tough" but most cars have some sort of weakness. Has anyone done major repairs with their axles, engine or anything that has gone wrong on their xB's? And another thing, what mods do you think contributes to xB's breaking down? I'm pretty sure there's mods out there that just straight up messes up your engine and which mods did you guys put on your engines that gives you positive results? Thanks for the info guys! Happy Box"ing"!
The worst thing I've ever heard of on this board has been windshield replacement, and I still maintain that problem would go away if people would learn to observe a reasonable stopping distance from the truck in front of them.
I've only been around here for six months or so...the mods would probably have more info. There's cars here with over 100K that have had no problems at all, though...I don't think you're going to find that the wheels fall off at 35,000 miles or anything.

i had to add more windshield washer fluid once, it was really hard, spilled all over the place. But i figured it out, that's about all the work i had to do with it. i've had it for 10 months.
Only prob i have heard is with the clutch/tranny on manuals. Seems to be a rare thing, but mine shifter is kinda clunky, and the clutch feels kinda grabby, for lack of a better work, at times. But I would still take my manual over a auto box anyday
a macanic at a toyota dealer told me that he has had several boxes come in with leaking radiators and he found that each box had the same problem (including mine) the thermostat seized causing the pressure to exceed well above what is supposed to happen. easy fix but a lot of trouble trying to figure out what was wrong.

yeah the window crack was a big issue.... but problem wise its built "toyota tough" as you say. never heard the radiator thing,,,, but i guess anything can happen....
Worst problems I have sheard about are grenaded engines. Not sure what the owners were doing but the pictures of big holes in the sides of the blocks from rods going thru them are certainly impressive.

some have complained about failed vvt-i. clutch on manuals may wear sooner than some others (30k?). grenaded engines- not sure what the owners have done or a manufacturer defect but also seems not so uncommon.
So so far, we have windshield, cam gears, radiator leak, rear bumper, clutch, fuel injection, and exploding engine. Great...
But other than the radiator leak would you say that scion's are good cars that would last almost forever? Or is there a weakness? And no one had problems with mods that you guys added on your engine eh? Interesting.
