Default Map ligths, Rear Dome Light

hey all

I've seen the post for the rear dome light. It's something that I'm interested in doing, along with finding some type of map light unit for up front, around thew rearview mirror area.

I'm kinda a bit intimidated to pull the headliner, so I was thinking about looking for an installer. what kind of shops do this type of work?

I used the accessories shop in my city that contracts with various car dealers (including Toyota/Scion) to install aftermarket stuff like cruise control, truck bumpers, etc.

They did not need to drop the headliner to install my rear stock dome light. They cut the hole where I specified, fished the wires to the center dome light, and devised a mounting method. It cost 1 hour labor at $55/hr. RPM

PS: Here's a link to pics of roof of xB with headliner down:

I had to special order the part from Toyota. The part number is 81240-12060-PO.

I asked for, and received, "dealer pricing" on the labor because I was referred by my Toyota/Scion Dealer. In other words, I was not a 'walk-in retail customer.' :D RPM

You could have a shop do that install like that for you.
