I like the box for it's ability to hold alot, but sometimes stuff has to hang out the back with the lift gate open. I always had trouble finding a place to hook a bungee cord. I tried hooking it around the rear wipe stalk, but that was no good.

So I just pried out the plastic hand hold used for closing the lift gate and drilled a 1/4" hole in the lower side.

Now I just hook one end of the bungee in there, and hook the other end under the rear bumper, and it holds the lift gate down for driving without Johnny Law coming after me.

i always have trouble with the family thinking i drive a f150 when i come home on leave at christmas, i usually leave with the scion looking like a ups truck and somehwere amongst the boxes of crap are my kids and a very disgruntled wife lol. I admire the x-box for having the ability to carry so much in such a small space. I recently figured out how to removes the spare tire from the hatch area and that gives about another 6 inches of depth. I drive the scion from texas to north carolina about 2 times a year and the damn thing is a trooper i tell ya that.

I always pop out that handle so I knew right where you were going! Largest in car items, full size leather couch and a 2-seater go kart of course most of both were hanging out the rear for the 100+ mile trip home!

It was over a year before I even realized there was a hand hold in the lift gate!

As for the extra cargo area depth- it's very odd how the xB is designed. Under the carpet, the sheet metal of the floor is molded like the spare should be recessed. But instead it has a plastic filler to make it level.

I think it is recessed on the JDM bB.

Large Items:

40 gal. hot water heater
9' roll of carpet
Lazyboy Recliner (in the shipping box)
Top part of a 48" rolltop desk.

Other little things that stuck out.......

That's a good idea. I haven't needed to tie the box shut (yet), but it's a good think to keep in mind.

The other day, I had to haul some pallets around at work, which just barely fit (44x56" plastic), and I got some weird looks while loading them in.

I've also wedged in a loveseat, a big file cabinet, and an armchair.

My car was lowered quite a bit with all the booze..The entire bottom layer are cases of heineken, buds, coronas and dos equis.. My rear seats are folded down of course.. Those Blue Buckets are filled with wine and other Liquor as well..
Party box!!

Oh and when I moved out of my old place... I fitted my entire room in the box.. in two trips.. Even my twin bed and frame.. "What's a U-Haul??"
