Default More color changing paint?

Who needs an RS4 torched penny to have paint that changes shades?

Just get a Shadow Mica!

Pictures taken within one minute of each other...

(Just kiddin' ya' RS4 folks!)

I am still not sure what color shadow mica is. when you build one on the website, it looks dark gray. I think it is a green based black now I have it.

Nah... Pic taken within one minute of each other with the xb in the same spot, Look at the sun underneath. Even if what you say was true, isn't that what the changing paint does... look different from different angles and under different light conditions?

There are at least 3 different kinds of metalflake in the SM paint green, pink, and silver, an, IMO, that's what gives it different look under different conditions, from different angles - depending on what is reflecting in the paint.[/quote]

Most colors have a mix of different colors in them. Thats how they get the shade they are looking for. But with cars like the torched penny they actually change the mixture at different spots on the car. Thats what the dealer was telling me.

TCM has a lot of "flake" in it too...looks darker in some light, but has some gold hints in the direct sun...I think all the scion colors have some "color change" with the metallic paint (sorry PW owners ) But the Torched Penny has a CRAZY amount of color change...I just would hate to have to touch-up from a scratch or repaint body damage!

i believe all darker colored vehicles look 2 different colors if you take the picture with the sun shining on it, compared to the sun shining on it and you at an angle where the sunlight reflects at the camera off the paint rather than just away from you like in the first pic.

what is your address?...im sening you a bottle of tire-shine ;-)

LOL... No need - I buy No-Touch in bulk at Sam's Club, but the '95 Impala SS gets most of it. I haven't really detailed the xB since last Fall. Believe me, it'll get a thorough going over, probably this week as a matter of fact.

Here's a little tip - spray some tire-shine (the foamy kind like No-Touch) on the inner fender wells behind the front tires. It'll drag the dirt (not mud, mind you) down with it as it drips to the ground and make 'em look like new. Try not to get it on the paint. If it's been a while since you cleaned the fender wells there, spray it on for two or three washes... it'll work!)
