My first road trip (56 meh beh)
Well I completed my first road trip in the box last week and decided to write about it. Wanted to tell anyone that had doubts about the box's road trip ability how it went, her goes...
Started when I moved out from school on may 10th. Loaded up the toaster with everything in my dorm. That's right, I loaded my entire dorm into the toaster. I was definitely tucking wheels, but no rubbing issues. I guess being broke and not being able to afford wheels spacers come sin handy . Even with all the weight the box handled well and never gave me an issue. Actually made driving through the windy mountains easier. That was a 120 miles trip home.
Then, the next day, May 11th. I took a trip to Canada, roughly 500 miles each way. Once again the box never gave me a problem, took the trip in stride. My only gripe, the box was a serious box slaughter machine. I had to stop every so often just to clean the windshield. My front end looked like a scene from a bad low buck horror film. The box was great on gas, which made the $3.85 average easier to bear.
When we finally arrived in Canada, my homeland, I think I was blowing people's minds. I got a lot of "WTF" looks and a lot of giggles. Introducing them to a box, a yellow one at that, was cool. When I got to my relatives place the big statement of the day was, "But it's a box." Go figure. While I was there, I had an opportunity to see an R32 Skyline up close. One of the neighbors had one, pretty friggin' cool.
While I was headed twoards my relatives house, I was on the QEW and I hit 50,000 miles, WOOO!!!!
Return trip was just the same, other than the fact that because it was sunny, I murdered more bugs. THey make some pretty cool noises too.
Well, that was my journey, roughly 1200 miles in 4 days. Thanks for Listening.
Also while driving I saw this beauty, a Sienna with a small front tire, and large rears.

ahh yes... the box can actually haul quite of bit of stuff when you strategically load it vertically. alot of people have trouble with that and just see it as too small not enough room. gotta stack high people!
glad you had a successful road trip. i like roadtrips but cringe when i imagine all the new chips in my front bumper upon returning home :-(

I was impressed everything fit, for a week people kept asking me, "Is all this going to fit?"
And yeah, got a few new chips on the front, but I hope to get a respray soon.

i loved my treks from south eastern coast of NC to teh NYC metro area. 679 miles of I-40 and I-95.
yes the box is super dependable. but in a manual tranny the car screams at 5K around 85mph. the speed limit in NC highways is arund 70 and then it starts drinking like a V6 :-)
best i got out of a trip was 38MPG!
ill have to try that Vaseline trick for sure!
Carbon your pic isn't working
