I just had my windscreen replaced, and it sounds very similar to yours, I had a crack from the drivers side seal, across in front of my line of sight. I couldn't see any pits or rock strikes, and had assumed it was from temperature differences (it seemed to happen over night, while sitting in my garage!)

Fortunately I have a no deductable policy for glass, so I didn't even bother with the dealer, just had my insurance take care of it at work one day

I'm on windshield #2. That's the only downside to these boxes. The angle of the windshield is almost perpendicular to oncoming objects, so the windsheild will usually take the full blow! ('o' ) !!

I got it replaced finally and all is god. It only took them a day. I didnt even have to pay for it. they said that since it was so small and the rock chip happened way before the cracked happened, that they would fix it for me at no charge. It was wonderful. There were some problems afterward concerning my appartments and my sticker, but all is well with my car!! So thanks everyone for your cmments and replies! Please keep sending them! I love to hear your stories!!

I belong to the Long Island chapter of ScioNRG, one of the largest local clubs on the East Coast. I would say that at least 1/3 of the xB owners have had their windshields replaced at least once, a few, more than once. My wife and I haven't yet although we both have chips in the windshield. Definitely large area, thin glass and verticality. Don't try a bug shield or body bra. It will only kick the rocks higher up on the windshield.[/i]
