I love it, wheels need to go. Chrome ones might look good.

I may be mistaken, but I thought pinstripping and Flames are thing of 50's- 60's?

anyways, I like the outcome right now, I just don't know if the wheels will match.
also, have you seen the South Yokohama bumper lip? that would go together with your side skirt.

That looks really cool. I like it. I agree with everyone though that it needs different rims for the "old school" look.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything... but besides the fact that is says "Old Skool" the box isn't very old school at all. Flames are timeless and "old school" pin striping is about as trendy as it gets right now. (Or at least it is becoming so in the rest of the country. Not that it is a bad thing.) The wheels absolutely don't work for an old school theme though.

Judging by the look it seems you are trying to achieve you would be better off with either a "smoothie" style wheel or your stock steelies with chrome lugs, trim rings, and fence post cap.

If you really want some old school billet smoothies, check out the "Smoothie" from Intro wheels. They can custom build them to your specs, and they know proper fitment if you don't. They can even do the wheel centers centers in custom colors to match your box and keep the center cap and hoop polished. And since you are lookning at a 70s theme the "Oldie" might work well, also. And the nice part is that since you want old school, you can save money and accomplish the look with 15s!

Again, I hope you don't take this post the wrong way. I just thought I would offer up a suggestion if you really wanted to carry out an old school theme. If you want some contact information for the wheels, let me know.

ya, that would be too old skool for what I'm after. Although the smoothies work on a lot of the styles that people are working now.

It appears that you may have missed my earlier statement that these wheels were bought prior to my current direction for the car. I am searching for the wheels that I want to complete the exterior look.

70's vans were very big into murals, flames, pin striping, wheels flares and fat tires. The interiors were all customized to the personality of the owner. There are several good web sites with 70's vans such as vannin, which show all sorts of different styles that vans took on during that era.

The term old skool is a matter of perspective. To an 20 year old, old skool could mean something of the 80's style. a dego'd camero or TA, with pizza cutter front wheels and home stereo speakers with boxes stuffed in the back seat, with nothing more than treble bleeding your ears.

So to say old skool means one thing to you is fine. But to think that old skool is specific to an era or a specific style is incorrect. Again, I concede the wheels are not working (other than the fact that they go round and round, are paid 4 and work until I find the set that I'm after).

The wheels I'm after were called hurricane mags back in the day. I had a set a couple years ago that I had saved for a vw bug project, but ended up hawking them and scraping the project. So now I'm searching again. Until then, I gotta run what I got.

i appreciat the input, expecially the idea of contacting some of the hot rod shops to find undrilled wheels.

I'm pretty happy with the current look, regardless of the wheels through....

Lol... Those would be chrome side skirts...

Something different from the rest. Just like anything else, either hate em or love em.. What is nice about them is they are carrying color matched endcaps now, so no worries about painting and they simply snap on just like OEM with no modifications what so ever. About 30 minutes to install both sides..

I've got several chrome items either on, or in route to me that I plan on putting on. The side skirts, chrome weather seals and bumper grills(which I ordered today). I may also get the chrome door handles later this year if I can get the LED plans worked out.

cons of them are obvious... they are drastically narrower than the OEM side skirts, so I'm getting a lot of spray from the tires up on the side of the rig. And I need to blacken out the underside of the vehicle because you can see the body seam now.

Other than that, IMO, toyota did a great job transitioning the hight difference between the front and rear bumpers with the end caps of the new side skirts.
