Need Opinion: $15,200 for a XB with 9K Miles but addons.....
Hello Scion Life,
I've been a long time reader and knew my next car would be a scion. It was between a TC or the Xb. This weekend I decided it would be best to get the box for more than one reason but mostly because of the SPACE and SIZE.
I found a dealer that has a CERTIFIED Pre-Owned all Black AUTOMATIC Xb with 9K miles. Here are the addons for the deal:
1) 6 Year/100K Bumper to Bumper Platinum Coverage
2) 6 Disc Changer
3) Rear Spoiler
4) YTC Rear Lights
5) Neon Lights (Actually don't want these)
I went into the dealership looking to buy a new one base model and was going to buy the YTC lights and Spoiler. What sold me on the deal was the warrenty of the bumper to bumper. My budget for this car was 16K out the door.
Is this a GREAT deal, Good deal, or bad deal? Please leave your opinion.
Thanks in advance and I'm glad to be a part of a great community.

IMO, a fairly good deal. If you could get it down a little more and get out the door at $15,200, (tax, title, etc.) that would be better. Maybe you could get some extras thrown in. It is a used car after all.
Isn't it odd how a used Toyota always has a better warrenty than a new one. They relly don't cut the price of a used one, they just add a longer warrenty. It was the same case when my g/f was looking at a used '03 Rav4. Almost the same price as a new one.

Thanks for all the replies. I did the math and basically I'm getting $2500 worth of addons including the 6 year/100K bumper to bumper. I'm not sure how hard some of these options are to install myself but I will pick it up on Tues. Now time to find the thing I wanted most.....A Double Din navagation. Search button will be used.
BTW, This car was located in Long Island.

i dunno, i would rather have a new one, but get what you can afford, if it seems like a good deal get it, there good cars, but you can get a new one for like 15,900. im not sure if 15,200 is out the door then that might be a good deal, but if you still have paper work and taxs on top of that then i wouldnt do that, seems like a rip to me. irather pay 700 more for a new one.

I would buy a new one just the way "you" want it.
although the price seems good, the vehicle has some mileage and who knows how the prior driver drove it.
You can purchase the warranty when the vehicle gets close to the 3/36 date.
You don't have to buy that from Toyota/Scion. You can purchase it from many different companies. AAA sells one of the best at the lowest cost.
I would have to ask myself why this xb is for sale in the first place, and do I really want to buy somebody else's headache.
Stick with your initial plan. Buy a new one.
Good luck,

I had a dealer tell me the best he could do on a 05 with 5000 miles and no mods was 14,200. I talked to another dealer and they had a new on with 16 miles on it for 14,700. They added 18" wheels and tires and I got a brand new one that was the dealers show room car for 15,900.
Alittle high for the wheels and tires, but saved me the time looking and waiting, etc..
