Unhappy Need replacement hatch handel for 06 XB

Just joined tonight. I have a 2006 Xb purchased new in January 2007. I have never had any problems till now. Went to open back hatch & the latch would not free the door & handel broke off on left side. I saw an add for a metal handel ( thought it was on this site) but could be wrong. Did any one else see the post (add) that I am referring to? My extened warrenty will cover a new one from Toyota but I am sick of plastic junk.

Yup, the hatch handle is horrible. I see so many xB's driving around with duct tape on em. Something that I plan to replace soon, but when I feel like installing it. I have this bookmarked for the time being: http://scionpro.com/i-6506474-xb-bb-...ent-04-06.html

Default xB hatch handle

Warranty Enhancement ZTW for Back Door Garnish Scion Xb, Scion Tc | TOYO Headquarters

Warranty Enhancement Letter ZTW

Warranty Policy POL13-01

My 2006 xB hatch handle was ripped off by enthusiastic assistance loading for my vacation trip.
I knew that the handle only activated electric latch release and wasn't a pry bar for stubborn or wedged door.

Now I never received this warranty letter, even as the original purchaser, and have just started the hoop leaping to get mine replaced by the dealer. So, I don't yet know just how hard this is going to be, but will update as necessary.

I had my handle replaced under that warranty a year ago. The new handle feels more flexible, as the middle gives a little when pulled on.

The original handle felt more rigid, but did start to loosen at the attached ends over five years ago, when I tightened it. It stayed tight but I wanted to take advantage of the warranty in case the new handle was better. Maybe the flexibility in the middle is intended to help somehow, and maybe the ends are attached different and better so they won't come loose.

But feeling the middle of the new handle bend out away from the hatch is disconcerting, and I try to prevent anyone else from using it. When I go to the recycling center, I jump out and run around to the back to beat the attendants who want to open the hatch.
