Default New-to-Me Toaster Chore List

So I scored this Blue Onyx Pearl, 8P8, 04 5spd with 89k on the clock in fairly great shape for it's age last week. Of course it needed some TLC still so here's all that's been done in last week...

LED 6x8 panel for dome
Replaced TB return hose to tank so the TRAC Off, VSC & Chk Engine Light would go away
Clean interior vinyl, vacuum & set off car odor remover bomb to get rid of smoke smell
New NGK V-power plugs, Eng air filter, cabin air filter, RR wiper arm/blade, front wiper blades
LED Headlight bulbs after toothpasting the semi cloudy lenses
Bought new headlight housings, cargo net, Fogs, armrest console that stands in rear cupholder & lower grill filler pieces that were missing
Cleaned up neglected dirty rims
Added to insurance and passed inspection for title change requirement
Tightened up RR hatch handle
Pulled dash face to plug in defroster/hazards
Made the OBX pedal covers look new again
Tightened slack in gas pedal cable
Lubed all the door hinges, hatch hinges
Pulled a couple of dings in RR passenger door out with Pops-a-Dent
Running Lucas fuel treatment thru it with fresh tank of 89 Octane
Sucked out brake fluid in reservoir with turkey injector and refilled with fresh DOT 3
Made sure coolant overflow was at right level and washer fluids were topped off
Removed Japanese graphics on hatch and some other sticker on window from po
Replaced RR license plate bulbs and cleaned the dirty lens housings

Been driving it most of week to work as well - 10 mile surface street no traffic jam commutes both ways. Also took some measures that involved some Flexseal and some black RTV to hopefully rid myself of the drip thing at top of windshield pillar. Looked under trim strip and found no body seam cracks so must be windshield issue. Will see how that goes next time it rains. (fingers crossed) That is really the only remaining annoying issue other than maybe needing some A/C service/refill...works OK but is not full strength and looks a bit questionable down around the compressor like it might want some seals. Probably go with some fresh speakers at some point and just stay with OEM HU. All in all happy with what I paid for it. Rolls and drives great.

Oh yeah, have some Pioneer 6.5" TS-G1622's on hand for front doors and scored some 4" TS-G1045R's for the dash so will probably go with TS-G1345R 5.25" for the back and call it good.

I understand that driving a Gen I xB confers immunity to all viral infections; I saw on the Internet that hoarding xB's works even better than hoarding TP for Covid-19, but not as well as hoarding paper towels.
I got early intel on this from my contacts in Seattle, so I went out and bought a 2005 5 speed for me and a 2006 auto for my GF. So far, it's been working!!
Oh yes, I scored a bulk pack of Kirkland paper towels at Costco, 1 for me, and my GF got a pack too. So it's probably the PT that's working.
I'm not exactly sure the protective mechanism that Kirkland paper towels use against covid-19, and it's amazing it works without having even opened the pack, makes it's effectiveness all the more amazing!
OK, now that the thread has gone viral, back to business.

Yes, I truly did get an 05 xB for me and an 06 for her, but I'm new to Scions. I got them because, well, it's in my sig. But a newbie. So your info was helpful and interesting to read.

Could you expound a bit more on "Replaced TB return hose to tank so the TRAC Off, VSC & chk engine light would go away"? Just today, I noticed this VSC light on along with the check engine light in my 06.
P0441 EVAP System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0442 EVAP System Leak Detected (small leak)
P0446 EVAP System Vent Control Circuit

The codes all seem to point to a common underlying cause.
Does "replacing the TB return hose to tank" fix this? Can you point me to a thread and/or YT video that show this process? I have an advanced case of ACACBR, American-car acronym-clash-brain-rot, and to me TB means Throttle Body, or tuberculosis, or even Tom Brady. I did notice that last time I filled my gas tank, I had the pump-shutting-off problem in my 05, for the first time. The first couple fill-ups after I got it, there was no pump-shutoff problem. Sorry for the noob questions. Still getting the hang of this Gen I Scion thing. So far, they both have the gas-pump shutoff issue and the awful belt squeal problem, and both seem temperature-sensitive. But I am loving the MPGs on both!

Sorry, was blocked from site for a month for inadvertantly attempting to edit someone else's post? Just tried out of curiosity to get back on site today and it worked. I have done a crapload of stuff to the box since March and currently in the middle of adding str wheel controls to my 04. Scored an 06 wheel and a t1806 color changing single disc. Going to junkyards Monday to harvest another set of controls or the wiring/connector off them if they seperate, the clockspring and the part of the dash harnees going from clockspring to back of stereo out of some tC's I know are piled up in a coupla pick a part places that have the same wheel/stereo in them.............but I digress, as to your question about evap codes, had same set when finding the hose going from throttle body back towards firewall had a crack or 2 in it. You can see the new hose with white lettering on it in the pic below. You can spot the hose by looking for fuel line size hose that should have green capped port on it as it approaches the firewall should go to a valve of some sort beside air filter box then to the green capped port then to line going from engine bay to tank.

Some driveway campin test fitting a hatch tent awning in a bag thing I have had for some time for other vehicles...works as lean-to like in pic, awning with legs or just an actual low profile tent on the ground...handy packable thing.

Tomorrow will be pick your part trip to score Str Whl Controls, spiral cable and harness to connect the 06 Whl to the t1806 OEM stereo that were swapped in.....04 so no existing connections for this.....also there's a Lava xB in the junkyard I'm going to that has the OEM lava STB and hopefully the foot well lighting that will also be targeted. Str Whl Controls and harness will be coming from one of the several 06 & 07 tC's out there. Watched videos of stereo swaps for dash/console assembly/disassembly info to speed things up out in junkyard. gonna be fun, haven't done junkyard trips in awhile since feeding my 82 Hi-Lux.

Also found an 8P8 in another yard with the hatch spoiler........dang, really trying to not drill holes in this thing

Got both ends of stereo control wiring, gear shift **** & spiral cable from tC, Lava STB was bent, wings were gone on Lava, Blue and Silver xBs - Camo had none, Black had none. But also found cup holder LED harness and a great shifter housing from the Blue xB.
Only thing i got from the Lava xB was the 733 of 2100 RS 1.0 badge from above the glove box and OEM fog switch. All the orange carbon trim stuff on dash was there but not my thing. Got a nice brake booster vacuum hose in much better shape than mine off one of them.
All in all a pretty OK couple of stops.

OEM armrest came today too. Sure firmed up the console mounting stability.

Kinda went on an OEM Accessory binge, tear, frenzy. Scored the ILL switch OEM harness for cup holder lighting that changes colors like t1806 does, new OEM armrest, harnesses and spiral cable from 06 tC to make my audio controls on the 2006.5 wheel I got work, Hotchkis STB,
Valor Exh Tip, AEM gray oil cap, AEM gray battery tiedown, xB hatch emblem & Scion oval for Grill to go back to OEM badges from bB since I have OEM xB door sills, another RR view mirror for possible project & a 2004 Matrix wiper stalk with adjustable intermittent.
