Default New mod cigerett lighter

I Recently purchaced a neon light kit. I put it under my dash. The only prob is that it uses my only cigerett lighter. So i bought a cool splitter from pep boys. It has three outlets. So i baught another for my other part of the dash and i still have 1 for my phone! I mounted it under the ash trey where there is that blank spot. I just used 3m double sided tape.I have no regrets, just wanted to share that with you

:o :D

Uh yeah, you could have put in cold cathodes for a lot cheaper and not have had to get a splitter.

here's a much more informative way to be answered....

yesterday we were wiring some undercar LED tubes for one of the xBs up here, we took the dash apart and created a tap of the power going into the cigarette lighter.

Short end of the story there were several switches and relays involved, but if you take the time you can do a good clean install and no worry about the adapter or wiring getting tangled. PM me and I'll see if I can round up some details about taking your dash apart and suggestions on switch locations. We put EvilScionDude's next to his stock illumination light, with one of those jet style covered switches, I forget what they're called )

Hey dude take out the lighter cut off the wires from the lights and wire it directly to the back of the lighter. This way you still have the lighter and it looks nice. The only thing is they stay on while your car is on.

Buy a switch for 2 bucks at Radio Shack and run the wire to it b4 you tap it to the lighter power. Mount it in one of the punchouts on the dash, that's what they're for...

Then you could call it a mod...

how do you wire things from behind, i hate having my cell charger plugged in... i don't think my cell charger is two wires though, lol, so it might be hard? i don't like to swap the cigg lighter when i wanna have a cigg back to my cell charger when i needa charge... it's annoying. and i don't want some bulky splitter in there. any ideas?

neon gets hot, draws alot of power and is actually a dieing technology. cold cathode is cold, draws almost nothing, and is super bright.
