That's why I vowed NEVER buy a NEW car again. Let someone ELSE get those first boo-boos and take the hit of the first year or two of depreciation.

I would have kept that vow too, but the only xB I could get was a new one . . . . Yeah, it's Scion's fault!

I was fortunate to find a used one from a private party, less than a year old and 15k miles on it. It had the inevitable couple of little scratches but I thought they were worth the almost $3000 I saved.

The way I see it, is it's a battle scar, no big deal (I was just as ____ed when mine got it's first scratch too though)

The theory is if you're buying something to use, it's going to show some wear.

So yea, it sucks but now, the next scratch will be nothing.

it's not even noticeable, it's right on the bottom, you'd litraly have to lay on the ground and look carefuly to see it. i just heard the "scratch" noise and then went out to have a look and saw an itty bitty nik.

I still grit my teeth when I hear rocks and debris pelting the front on the interstate, but what can you do...it's good for the touch up paint companies though, I'm almost through my first bottle already

The bottom edge of the front skirt takes a beating on mine, but most of the 'damage' is just superficial and not really noticeable. Still, the first time there is damage to a new car, no matter how minor, is traumatic.

i got rock chips on my front bumper and hood. i bought a bra to cover the whole thing, it works well, sometimes ppl flick cigerettes on the highway and they always seem to get in my grill and that ____es me off. My first scratch happened the first time i drove it. As i was exiting the dealer lot and the dealer was waving goodbye, i scratched the bottom of the front bumper, i was FURIOUS, there was a mean **** dip as you exit. But i'm cool with it now, plus i'm trading it in for the xb2. so i don't care.

that first scratch is a killer, but when you drive a vehicle daily it's going to get many battle scars in it's life time

i had a friend of mine come over today and told him about it then asked him to look for it. it took him about 20 minutes to find it so it's re-insuring to know that it's hard to spot. i told him it was on the left side of the front skirt and it took him that long to find it so i'm happy. i've been busy today so tomorrow i'll get the touchup paint out.

Tomas - You know the area... stupid parking curbs are ALWAYS like 1/16th of an inch higher then the front skirt... no matter what you drive...

Heheheheheheh... Never had that problem with my Land Cruisers...

(Though I do remember getting a VW bug stuck under the front of one for awhile... :D )
