Default OK xB owners, here is a laffer!

Got my xB, last year, 11/05. 2005 model.

Yesterday, after coming to ScionLife I went over to Scion to build my car as an 06.

Ya know just to see how much it went up in price plus I would love to get the stereo with iPod connection. Anyway...

Funny thing, I picked the tail pipe option and it looks great, OK, so I look at my original receipt and I paid for that same tail pipe extension or whatever it is, but they never put it on!

Not even sure how I'm gonna approach this, but caveat emptor....

Wow, thats kinda strange. But its your bad for making such an important purchase without double checking everything they charged you for. I hope it all works for you back at the dealer, keep us updated.
May this be a lesson to anyone purchasing a car, double check what your getting charged for!

I presume you mean 11/04, a year ago.

Someone will know the answer to this (I don't) but - when this part is installed, is there any drilling or other modification of existing parts? The absence of such modification would be proof that the part was never installed.

Wow, that totally sucks dude... I think if you went back to the dealer, quite honestly, they'd laugh at you... If they are a good dealership, they may hook you up and give you the tailpipe now, but I highly doubt that...

Are you sure that they didn't put it on? Perhaps it fell off at some point in the past year?

You might be able to pull it off, make them produce a service ticket showing which mechanic installed it. My buddy bought a Toy PU & moved before going back to have the bedliner installed, then with all the job/moving hassles a lot of time went by, he just kept putting it off. I cruise over to his house & see how scratched his bed is one day & tell him he should have bought a bedliner, he said he did but didnt go back to get it. Now it had been over a year later & he thought it was a useless cause, but I called the dealer for him (AS him) & said I never got the bedliner. There was no service ticket so they asked me when I wanted to come down & have it installed. He got it no problem. Give it a try.

Yeah, If it wasnt on the RO(repair order) for your initial "new car get ready" then they have to give it to you. All of that can be looked up regardless of how much time has passed. I would give it to you!

I'm sorry, yes November 2004.

No doubt I feel foolish, but given the circumstances at the time, trust me, it wasn't hard to overlook.

No it didn't fall off and I'm not sure how it is installed, but it is on my window sticker and invoice (Exhaust Tip by Valor Manufacturing $64.00).

Additionally, they are located in Staten Island (I'm in NYC) and the reason I bought it there is because the closest Scion dealerships at the time were giving me the run around (STAY AWAY FROM BAY RIDGE TOYOTA for both buying and servicing).

Manfredi got it for me in a week, yeah they forgot to put the locking lugnuts on (I caught that one) but I think it was out of the rush and not malice.

Anyway, will keep you guys up to date.

Man that's pretty sad you didn't notice that for over a year. I know when I mod my car in any way I notice all the mods almost everytime I get in the car. If you didn't notice it for over a year, perhaps it wasn't a very important add on in your unconscious mind.

Hmmm, if it was on your window sticker then it was likely a PPO (port installed option, not something installed at the dealership), but that isn't absolute. If that WAS the case, this may be harder to get. Now, I would do everything I could to give it to you, but there is a small possibility of a covenant compliance question here. Most dealerships wouldn't care about it, but some are **** about these things (and they have a right to be since so much is at stake).

I do hope that you've maintained a good relationship with your selling dealership. This will make all the difference in the world. I would suggest to approach the situation with humility and reserve, not aggression. That would yield the best results.

Records should be available on your car and hopefully everything will pan out for you.

At the sake of being seen as a complete dunce, here is the image of the exhaust tip from Scion.com

http://www.scion.com/bys/pub/media?id=5941601

What I seem to have doesn't look anything like that and is oval like this:

http://www.newscionparts.com/photos/...dat?1129614785

So, it appears that they have a new one and that led me to believe I didn't get it.

Sorry for the confusion, but it has been a crazy year.
