Default Picking up my new xB

Barring any tragedy, I'll be joining the xB family on Monday. I'll be trading in my ol' 93 Toyota Tercel and picking up a stock '05 Blue Onyx xB. I'm absolutely psyched to pick up this car since I've been wanting to get it for the past few months. Originally, I was going to wait for a few months to build up enough cash to put down a deposit to pay off the sales tax at least. I went to a dealership to test drive the xB for about the third time. Of course I loved it again but I told the dealer that I wasn't buying until October. Of course, he went into salesman mode and tried to get me to get it 'today'. I told him straight out that I wouldn't have all the money I wanted to put down on the car. However, my live in girlfriend came with me. She had just graduated college a little over a year ago. Toyota has a fun little program that if you are a recent college grad, you get $400 towards a new car deposit. I've been out of college for about 5-6 years, but since she hasn't, Toyota let us use her as a co-signer so that I could get the deposit. With that, $300 for the Tercel trade in, and $200 cash, I got the monthly payments down to where I needed it to be and on Monday, I'll be picking up my car!

Congratulations! Just prepare yourself for all the knucklheads that will nearly smash into you as they're staring at the car and not paying attention to where they're driving. I was in Boston in May and some woman and her daughter were staring at my car (blue onyx too) and she rear ended the guy in front of her! fortunately we were in slow traffic.

Also parking lots are hell. Even when I park in the most remote spot someone parks next to me so they can see the car. Since these cars have no door guards it's only a matter of time before the doors get dings in them from people swinging open their doors without regard.

This is the same hassle we went through when we bought our PT Cruiser in 2001. We were one of the first people to get one and we went through close to a year of this before it waned.

Enjoy the BOX you'll LOVE it.

Although I've only had mine 24 hours, I love it! And yes, you will get looks you won't believe...my kids were dying laughing at all the people pointing, staring, etc. Should be a lot of fun, hope you enjoy...we are! I got BCP...
