Default Power Cable Under Seat - Purpose?

Looked in scionlife online and my 06 xB users guide, but could not find the purpose for a what looks like a powered cable located under the drivers seat and one also under the drivers passenger side seat. It's not connected to anything, just loosely taped underneath the seats. Does anyone know what this is used for?

i think the ones you are talking about are actually connected to something. i noticed the same thing and they run over to the seatbelt buckle, which leads me to belive that they are the seatbelt sensor wires.
i ended up just putting an extra cig lighter socket into the back of my boomerang. be careful about running the wires under the console though -- i got into some major trouble involving the parking brake and my key getting stuck in the ignition..

Those are sensors that run to the seat cushion and seat belt on the passenger side, and the seat belt on the drivers side. They are resposible for those annoying lights on you dash, above your turn sig's for the driver, and the one below the radio for the passenger. I unplugged mine, but got another irritating light on the dash as a result, so resistance is futile, I guess... I just hate wearing my seatbelt. I always feel trapped.

don't remove them just "short" the connections into thinking you are there.

But just remember if you have an accident and you dont have a passenger the air bag will deploy becouse the car will think someone is there.
Is it really that hard to wear?It could save your life.

oh i always wear my seatbelt. i;'ve done this on cars with racing seat.s

and to me i wouldnt mind having the passenger bag go off in a crash. and i believe it doesnt even control the passenger bag. i believe it just controls the passenger light. but i know if you disconnect them without shorting/grouding/tricking them none of yer airbags will deploy.

They're airbag sensors. If you unplug them the airbag warning light comes on.

They're not airbag sensors, that power cable is to add a minifrig for alcohol or soda.

Default Passenger seat removal

I will not encourage anyone to have the sensor connector unplugged with the seat still installed. If, however one wants to remove the seat and not be pestered with the safety system warning light, Here is the solution!
Hold the car connector with the contacts facing you and the latching mechanism at the top. Number the contacts from left to right as pin 1, 2, & 3.
Place a 1.2 k ohm resistor between pin 1 & 2. The car computer will now think the seat is in place, unoccupied, and the wiring system is OK.
This is much safer than driving the car with the warning light permanently displayed, as the car might develop a serious safety defect, and the driver would not be warned of it!!!!!!!
