Default power loss

I got in my xB to go to the store just now and as i pulled out of the parking lot and excellerated in first and second gear the power would just drop. I have about 40k on it and i'm not due for an oil change for another 2k. I don't think it's the clutch. Could this be the valves or something? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Could be a lot of things, but check the simple things first, like clogged air filter or restricted air intake. Also check fuel line/filter.

I have the AEM with bypass from the dealer and i cleaned and recharged the filter with the last oil change. Could be fuel filter.....What about valves? One person said it might be time to adjust the valves and another told me that valve adjustment is not required on xB's.

Ok so when the engine is cold and i start it up, the rpm's seem low as if it wants to bog down and quit. I tapped the gas and it went up and back down like normal. But then without me doing anything the rpm's shot up to 2500 as if i were giving it gas. It held for about 3 sec. and went back down. I've noticed up until this that the RPM's have been slightly erratic at any temp. Tomorrow if it's not raining i'll check plugs and fuel filter.

also maybe try a fuel system cleaner you may have gotten a bad batch of gas that had more water than usual.

even try HEET it'll dry out the water. and yes check the filter

Maybe you over-oiled the element, and the MAF sensor has gotten contaminated.

Just drove to the auto parts store and it seemed fine. I put in some fuel system cleaner and on the way home it started to seem alot smoother so i'm guessing that was it. Plugs were changed 10k ago so i don't think they are an issue. Although i haven't checked them. Checking the fuel filter is too involved for me to do before i go to work so that'll have to wait. Hopefully it's ok now and i won't have to. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Seems to be doing better but every once in a while it will sound like it's about to maybe bog down a little when stopped and warm. Since the fuel system cleaner it's been starting better. I haven't tried cleaning the MAF yet though but i still gotta find some of that CRC stuff.

I suggest cleanin out the maf and then letting it idle for 1 min without touching the gas. 1. Take out battery terminals
2. Clean maf with electrical cleaner
3. Let the maf air dry and make sure there is nothing on the terminals
4. Reconnect maf
5. Start the car and don't give any gas VERY IMPORTANT

These steps will reset you idle control sensor and also your maf will be cleaned. This is just something basic you could do. Hope it helps, just doing this should get every thing cleard out but being carful and patience is the key.

It's connected to your air cleaner.

my quad did this (i know there totaly differnt) but with my quad it was a head gasket you may want to look in the engine bay for coolant laying around the block after a warm drive

MAF cleaned today and it seems to have done the trick. Although it's kinda hard to tell now. I could see the idle control reset. I started it and didn't give it any gas and i just let it idle for like 4 min. It started at like 1000-1200 and stayed there for about 45 sec. or so then went low to like 450-500 and evened out. I'll probably clean it out again in about 2k when i rotate tires, change the oil and clean the air filter. Probably change plugs too. If anything else funny happens i'll let you know.
