Default A question about xB performance during the life of ownership

Hi, I'm new to the forum - I'm looking into getting an xB soon, maybe in a few months, though it all depends on how quickly I get a job out of college. Right now I own an '00 Toyota Corolla, which is a tight fit for a guy who's 6' 3", so the xB is definitely for me. What I've been wondering is how are they in the long-term? In terms of reliability or mechanical failure of any sort? Even though they're Toyotas, nothing is perfect and I figured it would be a good question to get addressed...to find out how these vehicles age. Thanks to everyone for the information you provide!

Just got mine along with an extended warranty in case any issues to 7/75k for like $800 with 0 deductible. That's cheap.

I'm 6'-3" also and it feels like the box was made just for me. I've never enjoyed so much head room and with the seat as far back as it will go my passengers in back are simply amazed with the room they have. This thing rocks! Get one before they are gone!

Even though they're Toyotas,
I come from German car only roots. 25 years tweekin vw's. Because its a Toyota was enough for me.
For $15,725 anti-locks, trac, air bags, decent stereo, room for 5 good sized people, ext. How much more thinking needs to be done

Had my xB since Aug 05, not one problem. Have logged almost 10k so far and am going to get my second FREE oil change soon. We get three FREE Oil Changes!! I was impressed to find they used Mobile 1 oil. I was expecting the cheap stuff.

So what was the exact problem you had with your tranny?

I have 38k on mine and had the car for about 2 years with not an issue. I have an auto & it get's driven hard.

I've had mine since Jul03 and one tranny problem covered by warranty, but that's it. I'm near 50k miles, but would up w/ Danny (doctorcue) and Bill (usdmbB) had I been working the past 16 months.
