Default Question for all of you xB owners

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing one soon. I'm mostly intrigue by the cool looks and the great gas mileage in the times of rising fuel costs.

Now out of all the "performance" mods....which are a good deal right off the lot?

Also, is the dvd option a indash or flipdown?

Uh, there is no 'dvd option'. You'd have to rip out the stock headunit and put in your own nav/dvd unit.

there is no dvd option on the main scion site, that may just be a one-of-a-kind dealer installed option. which means, if you can do it yourself, do it. the dealerships tend to overcharge on items and installation.

if you are at all decent with tools, do stuff yourself. i installed my own cold cathodes for under $30, dealer is asking waaaay more than that. i could add an intake for 150-ish, way less than dealer's 180+install.

the xB's are definitely good gas mileage, and tons of fun. get the stick, it's geared a tad more aggressively, and it's just cooler to have a stick.

I think for real 'power options' there are few.. but to get the intake/exhaust finaced (esp if you like the parts) is a good idea. other things are cheaper if you do them yourself.. floor/cargo mats are nice too.

as for a dvd dash, that's on your own. but there are dealers (www.oemvalue.com) that sells the navi dash from toyota fittament for our scions; so there's an option.

btw congrats on your possible xB

well I was thinking

basic wheels since I'll buy aftermarket 17's or 18's maybe
Scion Security - Or should i just get a aftermarket alarm?
Cargo cover
CAI
rear bumper
rear spoiler
TRD lowering springs, quick shifter, assembly clutch, muffler, shocks and the Euro tail lights..

that was pretty much all I wanted....any of that I should scratch out?'

oh and thanks for the quick replies guys/ladies

With gas prices quickly rising, I strongly recommend against any mods to the drivetrain/wheels. I have stock engine, transmission and factory option alloy wheels and regularly get 33-34 MPGs in city driving.

personally I would pass on the stock alarm, its over priced, and I have it on mine, my car has had the Back window shot out with a bb gun once and the driver side mirror busted off with a baseball bat once and the factory alarm NEVER went off either time, the first time the car was in my driveway and I woke up to the punks firing the bb gun so was outside in 5 minutes the second time the car was across the street from my house.. so I would have heard it both times if it would have gone off, but it didn't...

Just my 2 Cents other than that the car is awesome I have the OEM 7 spoke alloys on mine and the AEM intake and am very happy with it!

thanks, I'll probably x off the alarm and spend 3-400$ on a decent aftermarket one then. Still can't believe that they don't offer cruise control.

If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't get any factory options because they are overpriced and usually not as good as aftermarket parts that you can get. With the extra money you save on your note, save that up and purchase parts from the Internet and put the stuff on yourself. You will save money in the long run, learn a lot about your car because you'd be doing the work yourself, and have a better selection of accessories to choose from.

I would be inclined to agree but wouldn't mods such as lowering springs and what not void the warranty if they weren't done via the dealer w/ TRD springs?

Yep, they definately offer cruise control. It is on a stalk on the left side of the steering column. Works just fine as well.
