If I was you, and I'm not, I would consider having the dealer install the springs, if only to cover your rear for warranty issues. Other than that, I'd look elsewhere for the stuff you want.

Most of the dealer accessories are really easy to install yourself, so you might want to think about ordering them online and saving yourself a bit of money.

The cargo cover is kind of crappy, you might want to think twice about getting it. It tends to sag, as it's not on any kind of elastic.

I would be inclined to agree but wouldn't mods such as lowering springs and what not void the warranty if they weren't done via the dealer w/ TRD springs?
Mods, if installed correctly, do not void the warranty; in order for the dealership to void your warranty, they have to prove that your aftermarket part is what is causing [your problem here]. So, if your transmission goes out and they tell you they aren't fixing it because your lowering springs caused the problem (which is highly unlikely), they would have to provide evidence. Now, if you don't install the springs correctly and one day they fall out and your rear end is ripped off, then you have a warranty voided issue. Now, they won't do work to your aftermarket springs if they start sagging or something, but you wouldn't need them to do the work if you put them on in the first place. You would contact the company that made your springs if they have some sort of warranty for them, have them replaced, and put them on yourself again.

well that would work...knocks a lil more off the price.....basically a Black xB w/ manual and TRD springs, shocks, rear spoiler/bumper (assuming aftermarket ones would have to be painted anyways) and i'll see how much altezza's are aftermarket for xB when I get home.

No one's covered CAI in this thread, so I will say it is worth it. More power and sounds much better.

On the cruise, it depends on where you live. I think only the southeast gets factory cruise so being in the midwest, it's not an option.

Also, I am a fan of the fogs, as I am on any car. I think fog covers make it look like you were too cheap when you bought the car.

I second what Max2k said about the cargo cover, it sags bad. newscionparts.com has a hard cover for $125.

The ONLY reason I can see to get any options from the dealer, is to have it included on financing.

If you have the means to buy the box, then add mods on later, DEFINITELY do so. TRD springs = 1" lower $329. Tein S-Techs = 1.7"F/1.5"R = $150 shipped.... surely you can install, or find someone to install them for less than $179.

Same goes with other options. I got the rear spoiler, because I could add it to financing, and think the box looks naked without it. If I had the means, I would have bought the spoiler elsewhere, or got an aftermarket spoiler. Having 3 kids... 1 of which is still in daycare, coming up with even $200 "extra money" is sometimes tough.

Absolutely get the xB, I love mine... but get only the mods you want that are dealer specific (which is basically none of them) if you have the means to buy them after the purchase.

sorry for the rambline.

First, thanks to everyone who has chimed in on this thread...alot of good information floating out here.

2ndly, on the aftermarket spoiler and bumper....do they come pre-painted or do you have to have them prep'd and painted after ordering....because that's my only problem with "modding" a vehicle...I rather have it done right off the bat if possible. I've owned a Cougar back in 2000 and did several "mods" to it, but the one thing I hated was buying the aftermarket hood/bumper and then having to have it painted instead of driving around with a multi-colored ride.

Is the TRD CAI worth it or should I hold off and get the Injen or K&N?

Cruise Control is available not as a Scion option, but as an option most dealerships will install. Marion Toyota/Scion here in soutehrn Illinois told me they would put one on and that it was the same one they used on the Tacoma.

none, off the lot. do them all yourself. save money, gain knowledge and pride. plus, you get to shop around after your research.

I had my list of options prior to buying, but a couple of weeks on this site taught me to get it stripped. I am far better off. you will be too.

I can't remember now where I saw it... but I have seen the spoiler, painted to factory color code, for sale a good bit ($125-150) cheaper than the dealership. If I can find the link, I'll put it up later.

As for the intake, I haven't researched much, as I won't be doing "performance" mods for a while, as auido and appearance have wiped the budget for the most part. Check some of the topics in Power Hungry forum and you can probably find better info on which is best.

if you can find the spoiler...please pm the link if you don't mind.

My ride won't be "performance" minded obviously but I'd like to have a better suspension, and the typical I-H-E, as my xB will be home to my Inhuman 18".

so this is what i'm leaning towards...
Black Sand Pearl
7 spoke cover
normal Pioneer cd deck
Rear bumper
Rear spoiler (unless Scion05bopxB can pm the link)
Quick shifter
assy clutch
muffler
shocks

I've decided to scratch the lowering springs and wait till after my audio install to see how the xB handles with the extra weight in the rear. I may or may not include fog lights. All in all, it's right around 16k according the Scion site's build your own, which is perfect if I can walk in and say this is what I wanna pay out the door and I have cash right now.

I would like to see pictures of this since I'm not finding it on the Scion.com site either as a standard feature or optional accessory.

A link to the option on the Scion site would also be helpful.

Don't forget to add your state sales tax and your license plate fees to that price.
I would personally hold off on the shocks, muffler, and quick shifter and get them from any of the the dozens of aftermarket companies that also carry or can get TRD stuff. I would check with your dealership about the installation prices of these items as well. They might charge more money for them. The rear bumper applique is kinda ugly and doesn't blend in well with most colors.

Rip... sorry I got busy this week and forgot to find you that link, but here it is.

http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...7&parts_id=348

You can check around the site and see that he has a TON of discounts on the parts you are looking for, among others. Also, he is a site sponsor, so there might be other discounts that aren't shown on the regular site. Email with any inquiries and he might be able to do you even better.

forgot to add, I don't think the bumper applique is that appealing either. My salesman has an xB, TCM, with the applique, and I think it looks horrible. It probably would be as visible on the BSP, but I don't really see a reason for it, unless you plan to do a lot of hauling.

thanks for link...

i think I'm pretty much down to a stock xB now with foglights and maybe the bumper or not...still need to see side by side pics of one with and without the bumper.

hopefully I can trim enough $$$ off to walk out the door with a new xB for 16k or less in cash.

The only reason I am considering get the bumper applique is because everytime it rains, my rear bumber ends up collecting a lot of dirt. I think maybe this applique will help with that...

Just got my xB yesterday! Anyway, cruise control has only been offered in the southeast US and Gulf States up until now. The dealer I purchased from tells me that it is now offered all over the US at $399 installed, so I may go for that eventually.

Incidentally, I bought in Cleveland rather than Pittsburgh (2 hrs away) because of the runaround I got with the local dealer. They didn't really want to sell me a car.
