Default The Rear Appli - Worth it ?

I was thinking of getting the rear appli for the bumper, I remember seeing two types one that sorta looked like bubbles and a dealer version that says scion. How does this thing even attach? It sound like its a sticky type stuff that keeps it on im not too sure i want it there if it will affect the paint on the pw xB. whats it made out of ?, is it like a board thats still or a flexible plastic ?

It's a vinyl overlay... I kinda like the look on a PW, and if you're ever loading stuff into your hatch, it can prevent some scratches.

I know on my rs4 that the applique is a giant textured sticker and i have seen the one to which you refer with the bubbles and it is the same thing

Its just like 3m tape the applique will and should not harm your paint in any way.

If you want to spring for the aluminum bb applique.

I had one on mine for just a little less than one year and got sick of the look and took it off.

It helps some of the scratches but with the little holes in mine that is where all the dirt ended up.

It has saved my bumper paint more than once from scratches, worth the money IMO

The perforated black vinyl applique adds interest and breaks the monotony of the back of the car. Is inexpensive at $40 and is easy to apply and remove. It protects the top of the bumper pretty well, but does not protect the edge which is most prone to being scraped.

The chrome protector extends over the edge of the bumper, but is expensive at $140. And if the bumper is ever hit and deformed, the bumper will recover its shape but the chrome protector won't.

Bbist made a carbon fiber trunk handle that I really like , but seems a bit expensive .. for a trunk a handle made of carbon fiber last I checked it was almost $200 ! I wonder if there is a cheaper one somewhere. .

How did you get "It's worth it "out of those posts? It looks cheezy, holds dirt, don't even get wax on it, has holes where you can still get scratches. Shall I go on?
Do what I did before getting the bB chrome cover. Get a roll of 3M stuff and cut a cover out of clear. That way you get the protection without having to see that ugly black bumper blanket.

If you want it in black for the "look"? Have bBist cut a black vinyl solid one for ya if he has the pattern. Plus wax won't get permanently stuck to vinyl.

you could also go to any vynil shop and have one cut probably for little of nothing, I'm toying with the idea of doing a custom one... once my bumper is repaired

Default Applique

Besides it taking my dealership 2 weeks to install (rule learned - never accept a car unfinished), I'm happy with my appliqué. I'm loading and unloading PC's and servers into the back over the bumper all the time.

Best of all, keeps my beer bottles from slipping off the bumper!

I'm not crazy about my bumper cover. I do wish there was another cheap alternative.

Island motor sports?
How about a link?
googles it and there was like a million sites with that name.

I like the looks of my applique compared to a bare bumper, it does not hold dirt, I keep wax away from its grained surface, and my holes have not gotten scratches.
It's either this $40 sheet applique or the $140 thin chromed metal cover. The chrome is very nice, and protects better, especially the edge. But $140 was just too much for me, and I was afraid that an impact on the bumper's edge would ruin the metal cover.
