I like the looks of my applique compared to a bare bumper, it does not hold dirt, I keep wax away from its grained surface, and my holes have not gotten scratches.
It's either this $40 sheet applique or the $140 thin chromed metal cover. The chrome is very nice, and protects better, especially the edge. But $140 was just too much for me, and I was afraid that an impact on the bumper's edge would ruin the metal cover.
Then you are quite lucky. Every one of those things I've seen have turned to a greyish color. Have wax stains around the edges and scratches in the paint where ever there was a hole.
I just can't figure out why they put those holes in it. It's like they made it in a way so you will never be able to remove it and not see it was there.
This is why I made my first one out of 3M clear. It did the job but was unseen while doing it.
It'd be nice if graphic places could get the outline of the OEM one and make them out of what ever color the customer wanted.

I can understand why someone doesn't like the holes in it (which I don't understand myself), but it is very nice, and covered up a 2 inch gouge on my bumper that went past the paint. ;)

I'd prefer that there were something available in molded rubber, that wraps slightly over the edge, like with some SUV's, but that's apparently not gonna happen.

The applique does its job for me, preventing some scratches while giving good footing when I deal with stuff on the roof rack... it blends nicely with the other black accents on my TCM, as well.

Mist the bumper with water prior to application. it lets the applique slide around a little bit. Then squeegee it out. No bubbles, and a perfect job of placement...

i load up my xB with furniture once in a while but not as much that would require having the hideous rear applique on at all times. so i dont have it on there and my box looks lovely w/o it ;]

If you make it out of the clear 3M stuff you can leave it longer and wrap it like an inch over the edge if you'd like. The 3M stuff is invisible at like 10 feet away.
