It's either this $40 sheet applique or the $140 thin chromed metal cover. The chrome is very nice, and protects better, especially the edge. But $140 was just too much for me, and I was afraid that an impact on the bumper's edge would ruin the metal cover.
I just can't figure out why they put those holes in it. It's like they made it in a way so you will never be able to remove it and not see it was there.
This is why I made my first one out of 3M clear. It did the job but was unseen while doing it.
It'd be nice if graphic places could get the outline of the OEM one and make them out of what ever color the customer wanted.
I'd prefer that there were something available in molded rubber, that wraps slightly over the edge, like with some SUV's, but that's apparently not gonna happen.
The applique does its job for me, preventing some scratches while giving good footing when I deal with stuff on the roof rack... it blends nicely with the other black accents on my TCM, as well.
Mist the bumper with water prior to application. it lets the applique slide around a little bit. Then squeegee it out. No bubbles, and a perfect job of placement...

i load up my xB with furniture once in a while but not as much that would require having the hideous rear applique on at all times. so i dont have it on there and my box looks lovely w/o it ;]
