Regular Test Drive...when?
Hey guys,
Does anyone know when Scion will have regular test drives? Right now, test drivers have to "rent" the cars. This means the driver has to have car insurance already. I don't have a car yet (hoping the xB will be my first car, though), so I don't have insurance. Do I have to wait until February (2nd?) to test drive? Also, what are the chances of the RS 1.0s still being available when I do buy my car (Feb-ish)?
Thanks

It's not exactly reserved directly. What it is, is that at his dealership he is #1 on there list when they get one. He has first dibs. Like I am with mine at my dealership. Each dealer will put in an order for so many. They will get at least one of those that they order. My dealer ordered 5 RS 1.0's. They said out of that they will get at least one which I get first dibs at.
as for test driving an xB ... you don't need to rent it ... go to a dif. dealership ... they can't make you pay to drive a car that you're interested in buying.... even if it's not for sale for a week and a 1/2
The dealership that you went to should be using the two Scion xA and xB as the demostrators for the Scion line. They are under their TRAC program for use in the Scion Dept. I would immediately go to another dealer and drive one of theirs. You have 2 dealerships in your area. I don't know which one you went to so try the other one.
come on up to pensacola you will not have to rent one here i think my test drive lasted about 20 minutes it was beter than a theam park ride!!!!!
they just want to make som extra cash ---- if they are charging to test drive/ rent then you better watch out when you buy it if you buy it from them --- i wouldn't go there!!!
just my o2

Maybe one of the dealer guys can elaborate for me but this is how I understand it...
You go in and you tell them you want a Mani RS1.0, you drop them 500 bones as a good faith. This is called a preference, you have not ordered a vehicle, you have sent a request for a vehicle. Your name gets put into the system stating your option choices and your tranny, when the cars arrive in port, the list with your name on it is compared to the cars there and the dealers allotment, then they assign a VIN number to your preference. They install the options you chose and then they ship your preferenced car to your dealer. If you are the first to order a RS1.0 and there is still room on the dealers allotment then you should get one on the first shipment. I am not sure how the delivery of them will work according to the Mani choice. I preferenced an auto, but if my dealer only gets a mani sent to them then I said I would take it.
Like I said in the other post, you have to make sure that when you preference a RS1.0 that your dealer keeps preferencing it until it arrives, because everytime the allotment list is updated, the RS xB's get dropped because they were not delivered. This is just how the system works.
Maybe someone can add more...

dam Doc I think you might understand it better than a lot of people that work for toyota....that's pretty much how it works...now the only thing that is different is at times dealers get bonus cars...not part of their normal allocation...these are awarded when certain goals are archived and so on....if the R S 1 are only to be given out as bonus cars...well it would be a whole new ball game...but that's not how it is going to work as far as I know...although I wouldn't be surprised if bigger dealers (like longo largest dealer in U.S) get a couple of extras and some small dealers don't get one at all...it will be neat to see what Scion does with this...beacuse Toyota never done anything like this before...kinda of neat...
