There is a member that I think has the official manual but I'm not sure if he can or will share it.

I signed up for SL so I could look at the repair manual. At the time I had no idea how much other useful stuff was on this site! The membership fee is SO well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

Anybody can purchase the "real" Scion repair manuals directly from Toyota. This info is listed on one of the back pages of the Owner's Manual. Or go to your local Toyota/Scion dealership's Parts Department and order it through them directly.

But they are expensive. There are 2 volumes (each as big as a phone book) and each costs over $100. And the Wiring Diagrams is another thinner book and costs $50.

But if you are planning on working on your car (or are very curious), they are a great resource. I've bought a set.

The cheapest (without borrowing the manuals from someone) method would be what I did...

Go to:

http://techinfo.toyota.com/

Spend the $10

Get your access for a day.

And download like crazy. Sooooo worth it.

And this access is for all Scion/Toyota/Lexus vehicles, so if you have a buddy with a similar interest in these manuals, split it.

Some time last year (or maybe the year before) when I was at the toyota dealership the service guy said the manual was like 300 bucks or something. Because it's like the official one and not like a haynes or chilton guides for 20 bucks or whatever they are. He said because the car was too new. I think if you're going to open up every last bit of your car, then they're probably much more handy then going online to look up what you need and get grease on your keyboard and mouse.

$300 didnt think it would be that much. But I will ask next time I get my oil changed at the dealership. I know its on this site but I wanted one that I can take out to the car and work.

Yeah the guy wasn't too sure about the price, but he heard it wasn't cheap and that there were a couple of books really thick like someone else posted here earlier. And apparently you can buy one volume at a time, but I don't know why you would just buy half if you need stuff from the whole thing. Maybe Toyota figures that you can pay 100 bucks for the 1st volume, then save your money and don't do any mods til you can afford the other half of the book. lol

Just become a premium member here and gain access to it for the cost of addmission. That's what I did. It will help Darren and yourself at the same time.

Guys: there is no need to speculate. I posted the price I've paid (just few months ago). You can get the same price either from the Dealers Patrts Department or by callling the "800" number listed in Owner's Manual.

One volume covers the drivetrain while the 2nd volume covers everything else in the car. Then the 3rd boot has wiring diagrams.

This is much better and more complete than any Chilton's manuals. That is why the price is much higher.

All original Factory Service Manuals are expensive (because they are good). My Caddy manuals cost quite a bit too.
