REVs at highway speeds
Thank you Tomas. I always love to see people actually teach stuff on these boards
Ive definately paid my dues to the court system. The speed limit where I live is 70, and most of the time the flow of trafic is 85 so keeping the scion at 80 is more of a necessity rather than a speed thing.
Im curious where you get the "comfortable at 5k" from. Is that something you have personal knowledge of, or is there a way to figure out how long you can sustain a specific count rpm? More of a question of is there a mtbf rating somewhere? I have never seen anything from an mfg that says "this car will do 90 at 5k for 12 hours" type of thing..

I have no calculations, but I was able to maintain Revs at and aroun 5000k for almost 4 hours. . . don't ask why or how, but I did. . . with zero cars on the road in the wee hours of the morning. The engine held up admirably, without any issues. This was in a 5spd, however, but I think your question pertains to engine speed and not tranny speeds.

we have to understand that toyota tested this engine to the max in order to put it into the market. with that in mind, this engine was built to rev up that high..... they have professional drivers testing out these cars when they are built and when someone gets their hands on a car that isn't theirs, they will floor it.... i would.
