Default Road Noise!!!

Has anyone else noticed that when driving at Freeway speeds you can barely hear yourself think in this thing? I mean unless I have the radio at 45 plus volume I get tons of road noise. Even trying to talk to my wife when she is in the passenger seat is tough sometimes because of the noise of the road.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experianced this? If so has anyone done anything about it. I know some people Dyn0mat the whole car, but that's going to take a lot time to rip everything out. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Ghst

Well it is an econo car, not a luxury box

If it's the road noise getting to you, I would consider sound deadening the wheel wells of the car. Some Bedliner spray and a few sheets of mat or liquid deadening will quiet things up a bit.

You can also pad up the floor with more carpet foam and deadening mats.

I plan to strip out the car completely one of these days in the summer to fully deaden my car.

Deaden the rear wheel wells mostly... that's where a lot of noise comes from.

I know I'm just being picky. Can I just purchase this like at Autozone or something for the wheel wells.

Thanks,
Ghst

I know of a XB owner who completely stripped his interior and lined the whole thing (roof, walls and floor) with dynamat (about $200 worth and about 180 lbs.) and he said now it is so quiet someone can be standing outside and screaming and you can't hear anything. A little bit of work, but it would fix the road noise problem.

Yes you should be able to get it at any auto parts store or even a Auto body paint supply store. you can get it in an aerosol can and it should be around 6 to 10 bucks a can depending on the brand....

I am plaining on doing my wheel wells this way as well. plus it will get rid of the body color in the wheel wells and make them black.

What did you say. I can't hear you.

It is a cheap car, you have to do noise control yourself ,
or live with it.

^^^^^^^^
Thanks for being a smart a$$, I did not ask for someone else to do everything or the dealer. I only asked what I could do to help keep the noise down to a minium. I realize it's a cheap car why do you think I bought it.

I never thought my xB was that loud. I got a lot of tire noise when I put my 17s on, but it went away after they broke in.

I notice that when scion owners complain about something, some people will immediately attack with "ITS A CHEAP CAR....LIVE WITH IT!!". You really should learn to expect a little more from your money. Considering Scion's target consumer group, 13-18 Grand is a lot of money. And besides, I can think of quite a few cars in the same price range that are really quiet.

Id like to also point out that you should add on an additional 2-3 grand to your cars' pure price value to get a fair comparison with other cars. Most people negotiate at least that much off of sticker price.
