Default roof rack configuration

Hello all,

I purchased a yakima rack for my xb and I'm trying to figure what options would be in configuring the rack.

I want to be able to use a basket cargo carrier and bike carrier at the same time. I know the yakima loadmaster would allow this, but has anybody had any experience with other basket carriers?

Does anyone think I could get by with fitting a basket and bike carrier side by side with 58inches of bar to use?

Thanks for the help guys.

Mike

Where did you purchase your rack? I am wanting to get one, but I don't know where the best place is to buy one, or what brand to buy.

I bought a yakima rack at rackattack. I shopped around for awhile and found price about $5-$10 cheaper than rackattack but rackattack had free shipping which made up the difference.

I recently bought a Yakina Mega Warrior for one of my other cars through REI. Returned it because it was so overpriced and they were back-ordered on accessories. Found the same rack for a lot cheaper with free shipping from these guys:

im wanting a rack that can hold both the snowboard and surfboad. But it only seems that its only looking good for the snowboard and not for the surf board. Any dual locking ones out there???

I dont think that alot of people have tried loading their racks with two or more items (i.e., basket carrier and bike side by side or snow board etc) I'm waiting until my rack arrives with the bike carrier I ordered so I can see how much clearance I have.

I have my eyes on a basket carrier (not a yakima or thule) that I think will work side by side with a bike carrier. I'll let you all know if I'm successful.

Basically I went to rackattack and told them what model car I was installing the rack on. They directed me to yakima's fitness guide website which confirmed what items I needed.

If you go directly to yakima.com you can also use their fit guide to get model numbers.

At a local bike shop here, they have a fake roof of a car, with a real roof rack on display. It's a Yakima, and it has a Steelhead bike rack next to the cargo basket. If you want, I can go by there and see which basket it is, and what the spread is on their display.

that would be awsome. I have a few basket racks in mind but I'm not sure I can get away with installing them side by side with my bike rack. Do you know if the rack on display has the 50" bars?
