Default Rostra Cruise Installation

Love my new Xb, enjoy the looks I get driving down the road and yesterday I was driving next to a Hummer and felt, well...small but as I watched gas prices jump 20 cents in my area, I also felt a certain satisfaction.

I'm getting ready to install the Rostra cruise but I'm a little fuzzy on the pictures in the Cruise control installation manual. In particular, the attachment of the cruise to the throttle control. Has anybody seen or have a better picture of that assembly?

Thanks!

I installed a Rostra on my xB about two years ago. It took me about three hours and worked the first time. Attaching it to the throttle control is not hard, just kind of tight. Read the manual a couple of times while looking at the throttle contol and you can see what needs to be done. Make sure you take the slack out of the cable per the instructions.

I would also suggest using a mini-add-a-fuse to power the Rostra. The manual says tap into a wire behind the fuse panel. There is alot of wires back there!

I believe Rosta has a fourm on their website that has some helpful tips.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'll go look at the Rostra site. I found pictures here that did wonders to boost my confidence.

You can use a mirror and a flashlight to help locate the wire behind the fuse panel. Or you can use the mini-add-a-fuse as mentioned above. I like to follow the instructions - that is what I say to my wife everyday.

I just did mine Friday and it took a whole hour and a half. Should have been an hour but it took a while to get into gumby mode and get under the dash.

If the black connector you are looking for is for the power hook up then it is on the panel to the right of the steering column if you are under the dash looking towards the back of the car. There is a big group of wires there that obstucts the view of the black connector. You can unclip all those wires and then see which connector you are after.

I can't remember where I tapped power when I did my install. But I know it sure wasn't where they said to in the instructions.

I also had to bend the mounting bracket as it just didn't seem at the right angle for the unit to line up with the throttle cable.
