Default RS 2.0 xB owners beware

As many of you have experienced the DC Sports Exhaust that came as a part of our
Release Series package is prone to failure. My exhaust fell apart again last night and
I have discovered that Scion no longer caries this part. The dealership offered to put
a stock muffler or a TRD muffler on to replace it. Neither of these are equivalent to
what I had. Not to mention that this is a major part of what makes my car unique.
The part number is PTS 2652050 for those of you looking into this for your car. I have
now filed a claim with Scion corporate and we will see what that brings. What happened
to the ten year supply of parts required by federal law?

I am not happy about this. They are taking away parts of my car that make it special.

I am on my 2nd and need a 3rd. the muffle tip fell off. What one dealer told me was the inside welds were not done very well.

Perhaps we need a class-action? All RS 2.0 owners PLEASE RESPOND!

Default RS 2.0 XB owners beware

So far I haven't had any problems with my muffler. I try to look at the welds every few weeks. I have 37k miles on it. Maybe I got one that was welded a little better. But I agree that the welds are poorly done. They look like there was little or no filler rod used in the welding process. Thin welds lead to cracking.

Nope. These are considered "after-market" The first dealer I went to made the bold statement, "owner installed parts are not covered under warranty." The dealer didn't even know this muffler was standard on the 2.0! I had 15k on my 2.0.

The dealers here in sac wouldn't put all the goodies on the RS3 such as mufflers, bars, cai, etc, you had to get those added for the price if you chose, the salesman in folsom told me they (the salesmen) wouldnt make any money off the extras unless you paid to have them on there, I thought that interesting considering that's what the car is about ,not just the paint and badging

Mine fell off too. Right where the tip connects to the muffler. The dealership replaced it under warranty though. If it happens again, I'm screwed, no longer under warranty.

i havent checked mine lately but i should. I believe though that even if its out of warranty it should still be replaced because this is a very important part of the car, even though its a performance part, if you get what i mean...

Now thats funny right there. The dealership doesnt even know what is on each RS? I would hate to see what he thought was stock on the RS1. LOL

I know i have posted it here under a similar topic, but my future bro-in-law had the same issue last summer. Took it to the local dealer and they installed the stock muffler. He was ____ssssed. It took a call to our local Scion Corp office and a call to DC directly to get the correct muffler back on the car.

DC only shot themselves in the foot, as Scion will try and aviod these headaches in the future by not using DC again. DC cheeped out, now its their loss. The new xB2 is going to be offered with a daul exhaust from Magnaflo ... not DC.

I have gone through three of these mufflers. Two under warranty. Luckily today i was looking at my tailpipe tip and notice the crack once again. At least this time before the tip fell off and got lost. To order the part you must provide a Series 2.0 VIN number. I may jerk around with them once again, the last time was really a hassel as i had to finally go through the southeastern distributor management and then had to pay the local dealership for the part and then got a check back for a very obvious factory defect.
