Default run in with a racoon.

Owned the xB for 36 days and a flipping coon ran out infront of me in the rain. Tried to center the little critter (more clearance in the middle) but ended up catching him with the front spoiler just to the inside of the drivers tire.

Completely destroyed the spoiler. Cracks and splits across the front, from center to the corner infront of the tire. Tore the tabs out that connect that spoiler to bumper, popped the foglight cap clear out of the car and popped the tow hook cover out (neatly broke all the tabs off the lower grill. Lastly, the little b@st@rd came out the back cleany snapping the rear bumper bracket off......

I did a quick call to local dealer this morning just to get a guess't'mate of what the replacement cost will be for stock equipment

lower spoiler (painted) $325
front Bumper (unpainted) $170

I didn't find the price of the rear bumper yet,

So, the big question is... Does anyone know if a stock bumper is a direct fit or is there adjustments to the fitment that it will be needing. Reason I'm asking is, if there are fitments to be made, I might go after a aftermarket bumper and spoiler.

Thanks for any imput that you have.

your prices are correct. i had to get the same work. the insurance sent me to a toyota collision shop and all the work came out to just a little bit over $1000. i dunno if it will be the same in your case but it seems that the work was well worth the money. no orange peel on the front bumper .

of coors I got insurance.....lol

But I also have choices in material and who does the work. The estimate will be given and a check cut. At that point I may or may not have to put any money out of my own pocket except the $50.00 deductable to cover the costs of a aftermarket bumper.

I'm trying to look at the postiives of crunching a brand new car.

And ouch, over a grand in repairs. I'll hopefully get in the shop Monday morning for the estimate. In the mean time I'll keep surfing xB body kits to see what bumper I really like.

I really want a bumper that excepts "real" foglights. Not these no name plastic lense 35w lights. I want some lights that will burn the retina's out of a deers eyes @ 200 yards.

Thanks again

stock bumper is a direct fit speaking from experience. i had to replace my front bumper due to some circumstances dealing with fire and melting the original stock front. after that i put on the stock front with a shine street front lip.

Front lower lip? I repainted my car's badly scraped lip myself with a spray can of yellow Krylon Fusion. i sound like an advertisement lately

If this were out of your own pocket I'd say: give it a try yourself. If you have good spray can technique and a covered area to paint, their white -might- be a decent match for PW.

there are soooo many whites, though

I'm a pretty critical guy and yet I find my front lip painted by self for $6 is really sharp looking and requires no excuses for not wasting a lot of money.

Cost of rear bumper fascia, by the way, was $148 from local dealer who is always really high priced on accessories.

Does Scion make dealers sell -replacement OEM parts at a set price-? I hope so. This dealer really jacks the prices of things like TRD wheels and JDM tailights and even the cheapie wheel covers are $125 for a set.

so--shop for parts prices when in doubt? I do.

ya, the lower lip is too far gone for any sort of touch up. I did do some searching around for a rattle can match, but was unable to find any that was close. And you are rigtht, there are tons of whites out there.

That's a shame that the OEM bumper is a direct fitment. I was hoping that there would be some fitment issues that took "shop hours" to match up. This way if I did go aftermarket replacement, the fitment time would already be included in the intial estimate.

Thanks

I am looking at the same thing but mine is just the bumper cover. I had an accident yesterday and the front bumper cover is scraped and has a few cuts. Lower lip is OK. Grill is loose on the bottom. Have not looked yet to see whats up with that yet. My dealer gave me a price of $480 for the bumper cover installed. Looking at options.

Don't know how the paint would be compared to OEM. With all the bug, rocks, road salt etc.

Can you use filler on the deep scratches?

Thx and good luck with yours as well.
