I was just looking into the scanguage today myself. I'd be curious to hear some first hand experiences with it. Also I'd like to see where you guys placed them.

I bought one...and I love it. Very easy to take in and out of the car. I bought mine because some idiot at Scion thought it would be a great idea to replace a coolant temperature guage with some stupid blue light/red light crap... The guage gives me a nice readout of an actual temperature numer which I can appreciate... I also like the built in voltmeter which came in handy to diagnose a problem with some electrical connections. Another big plus is that it can read and clear trouble codes...another feature that came really in handy. OBD2 is awesome so I am able to hook it up to different cars to get readings and clear codes. I have mine mounted on the steering column using the supplied velcro strips. Looks really nice. I'll try to dig up a pic in the AM when I'm more awake...lol. IMO its definitly worth the money.

They are really good at helping people maximize their driving habits toward MPGs.

they look pretty cool and functional. Can you change the color on, or do you order it in one specific color, because i have seen pics of various colors. I would also like to have it in a location that lets it blend nicely with the car, but i also dont want to hide it. Any suggestions?

60+ colors built right in! As for the mount most folks put the Scangauge in the dash in the long cubby right above the steering wheel.

will the mph account for different size rims? Say im going to be running stocks in the winter and 17" in the summer, will it be accurate year round? And is that speed displayed at real time so it will be as accurate as a speedometer? Also, is there a green that will match with my box?

Thanks

And yes, i know im threadjacking, but w/e

Sure you can adjust for rim size it allows you to scale for lager or smaller sizes very easy if you have a GPS to verify.. as for the green there are a few shades you can probably get it where you like it!

To setup speed you can adjust the scangauge by entering the setup mode (simpler than it sounds) and selecting a percentage to add to correct for tire/rim size.
The adjustment then relates to actual speed (42mph on obdII port = 47mph actual for example) there are numerous ways to verify actual speed using mile markers and other confusing methods but if you have a GPS device like a tomtom they will display your speed off the satellites and you just adjust the percentage until the actual on the Scangauge matches the GPS...

I bought one from 365Motorwerks and I still haven't posted pics of it yet. lol Well worth the money. If not for being able to monitor the status of the sensors just as a OBDII scanner.

I've gotten my moneys worth out of it after throwing a CEL from cleaning out my MAF and Air filter. . . don't ask. . . it cleared the code after I figured out what was wrong and then I was able to watch #'s like the intake air temp just to make sure everything was good. It seems a little complicated at first but it's really easy once you play with it for a moment.

You have to set it up..my stock one is about 5mph off...like I said it's easy with a GPS but otherwise drive next to one of the new Civics they have a nice big digital dash for you to compare!

you need to calibrate it at first. For example; out of the box mine read slower than the factory speedo. It had to be turned up to match the factory. The adjustment is a percentage, i.e. I started at 8%. I have 20s on my xB, so I wanted to compensate for that. I know my car is going faster than the factory speedo, so I borrowed a portable GPS navigation unit (they display MPH) and had a friend adjust the ScanGuage to match. It came out to 15%. I checked at a few different speeds, 30, 50, 70.

You also set up engine size, fuel tank capacity and some other options. When you fillup you adjust what it thinks you used to what you put in the tank. After a couple of tanks of gas the SG should be calibrated.

If you top off the tank after the pump stops, buy gas at different places or on a slope, all of this can throw off the accuracy.

I bought mine from 365 and I love mine. If I buy another car, I will probably buy another one. I wanted a temp gauge and a corrected speedo. I got that for <$200, plus many more features, like MPG calculation.

This is my SG II install:

I tried it in the dash pocket like was mentioned above, but it was too low for me, I had to take my eyes too far off the road to read it. Mounted here I can glance at it as easily as glancing at the speedo. At some point I will probably drill a hole in the dash and run the cable from behind the unit, but I'm not willing to drill a hole in such an obvious location just yet.
