okay you made me look...... there is an Aliner pop-up trailer model Alite 400. It us 3 and 1/2 tall and has a tongue weight of less than 60 pounds and an axle weight of under 400 pounds. I can see an xB pulling that.

They can pull a trailer, you just have to watch how much you load.

I'd love to see how the hitch installs on an xB ... do they have to cut the bumper?

I've seen tow hitches that don't require bumper cutting. They sit just below the stock lip.

Hey Fulton! :D

I didn't think you would get on Scionlife so fast! For the others on the list, I know David through my fiance (another David) for a few years. I guess I'm the one who turned him onto the xB (he liked mine).

Good luck! I hope to see you in the Victorian Era some time.

Default American cars seem to have the need power at this size car.

Hay K9_Kate, I did take your advice. I’m not sure how much longer our car will last so I need to think about cars before I am forced to think about it quick.

After checking out Edmunds.com it seems that though American cars are generally poorly made, they have larger engines. So it turns out that one of the cars has a listed tow rating. My dream would be a scion with 6 cylinders 2 of which where off unless the extra passing power was needed. Like the hybrids that turn on the gas engine for extra power.

Such is life. The xB is so close to perfect too. Its’ just under powered for what I need on the weekends.

I'll post it soon.........be back with my thoughts on hauling with the xB.....I have a hitch in mind too...

Here is a link to a hitch made for the xB.

I'm thinking of using it to haul my little boat around.. With front drive it should be fine.

I'm not sure how the weight is on the tounge of the trailer but i think it will be fine.

I have had four big ole boys in my xb at once on a trip recently and it preformed fine.
Just a little slow on pickup but once at speed it was great.

I'm going for it......!! KEEP MY xB ..........OUT GOES THE AVALANCHE !!!

Heres our xB on one of our recent camping trips. Still got 28 mpg at 70mph on the freeway:

I'm just waiting on the funds to purchase a hitch. I also do re-enactment and need something to put my pavilion/poles on. I can pack my fighter gear and a buddy's with no problem in back. SCA Ansteorra

I have the CURT Mfg hitch which pops out below the rear bumper. Be aware that this hitch does scrape when first going up drive ways if carrying some load in the rear.

There is someone on this board that has a custom hitch that comes out through the middle of the rear bumper - cutting through is required.

Happy towing.
