Scion xb. Van or Car?
Is it a van or is it a car? Well, according to the guy at the drive through car wash, I am in a van and he hit me up for the extra $1!!!
I know, I know. Still, it wasn't worth my time arguing over a $1. I will make it a point to not visit that place anymore.

It's clearly a ploy to rake customers over the coals. I'd never go back to a place like that either. If anything he should have charged a dollar less due to vehicle length. Sub-Compact Wagon
Where I live the DMV classifies the xB has a "crossover" vehicle. This means it can be registered has a car or a light truck (under 6k pounds).......go figure.
So is it a car, truck, or van? Well.....yes!

Bottom line... it is a wagon. But that has been such a taboo word in the automotive industry for the last decade that all of the manufacturers are scared to use it. That fear has spread to all services related to the automotive industry.
It is a wagon. It has a hatchback.
I have had car washes call it a Van/Truck and charge me extra and then went back and another person called it a car. It really is a car as it is a 5 dr wagon.
