Default Scion xB Windshield Cracks (2006)

Good afternoon fellow Scion xB owners,

I was wondering if any of you have had problems with spontaneous
cracks appearing in your windshield? I just did and you know what?
Toyota did nothing about it (if I see another person sticking a
ballpoint pen in the crack in my windshield, I will go batty). They
have known of the design flaw of the Scion xB's windshield for a long
time (google search: "scion xb windshield" and you will find many
occurences). I went on the NHTSA website and there were numerous
complaints about this issue. I found a law firm who is prosecuting a
class action lawsuit against Toyota for the Scion xB windshield's
design flaw (see the link below). They have a section where you can
sign up to be included. We should not have to come out of pocket to
pay for flaws in the Scion xB's design. Thank you. --Kira (aka

a) there is a thread about this exact topic still on the main page. The search button loves you! :?

b) the fact that a lawsuit has been filed does not guarantee success or payment. Still, by all means, give it a shot, but don't get your hopes up.

c) if you run "windshield cracks [any name of vehicle on earth]" through Google, you will uncover entire organizations of people who believe their vehicle has A Serious Design Flaw and the manufacturer should buy you new ones. This does not prove a design flaw, so don't go picking out new cars just yet.

d) As I've said before, if you REALLY want results, pay a forensics examiner to look over one of these possibly-stress-cracked windshield with a microscope. The pen test is obviously nonsense, and the "there was no rock" defense is useless in court, as it proves nothing.

This is a very simple question that should be relatively easy to answer, with the right equipment and expertise.

I wish you the best of luck!
