Default shoulder strap modification

I have bursitis in my left shoulder. I'd like to modify the seat belt so that the shoulder strap isn't pressing against my shoulder. But the strap needs to be visible from outside the car so I don't get pulled over for seatbelt violation. Any suggestions?

Would a 4-pt harness/harness bar aleve the problem? Not quite sure where the pain point on your shoulder is, but it's a suggestion....definately not a cheap solution though.

They make clips that hold the belt so it's not pressed against you. My grandparents used to have them.

They sell seat belt pads that might work. I saw some at the mall yesterday that were yellow and said "Powered by Toyota" It was a small kiosk type store selling various car accessories.

Thanks for the replies. I completely forgot that the belt holder was adjustable, so tomorrow I'll experiment with different settings. If that's not enough I'll shop around for a clip. seat belt pads may have a softer feel but they don't reduce the amount of pressure.

As mentioned, first try use the sliding adjustment on the holder.
It made a world of difference for me.
I have spinal dics problems, and although I have found the seats to be PERFECT for the spine - I too was having trouble with where the seatbelt was riding on me.
A simple 2 second adjustment downward has done the trick and has solved the problem.

Bursitis is no joke. Hope you find the solution to the seatbelt problem and that your bursitis will go away soon.

I really think a seat belt contributed to the shoulder problem. I used to drive 6-8 hours a day with my job, never wore a seatbelt until the tough new laws were passed, a year later soreness developed at the belt pressure points before spreading. unfortunately my doctor doesn't agree with my diagnosis.
